It seems that Darui is underrated in every VS thread that is made. I have yet to see someone actually debate well in Darui's favour on a VS thread. People think his feats aren't noteworthy because the Gin and Kin brothers lost, despite having been hyped to put Tobirama on the verge of death and Ay wanting having to go and fight. This means that out of everyone present, Ay thought they were the ones most worthy of his presence. It also means they were more than capable enough of hitting Tobirama, which in itself is a great feat.
Reasons why I believe he is underrated and deserved to be a commander of the first division:

- He has shown immense speed several times. In the fight with Sasuke at the summit, Ay left before Darui did, yet Darui was capable of nearly matching his speed [

- He was able to blitz Kin with little difficulty, and cut his hand with arm off with a single swipe [

- He was fast enough to block the Bachosen's Katon at point blank range, while Samui was caught within it. [

- His physical strength is also extremely underrated. Juugo is known to be physically powerful, and he was on par with Suigetsu. Suigetsu was in disbelief when he saw Darui's strength [
You must be registered for see links] This was because Darui was capable of cutting right through Darui's sword, despite not having Raiton channeled in it. Suigetsu mentions he would have no arms had he not been capable of turning to water.
- A random thing I will be adding here, since this is covering Kenjutsu as well, is the fact that Darui can keep Raiton channeled in his sword without being in contact with it. [

- Assuming stamina is interchangeable with chakra, Darui's stamina is immense as shown in the Kin and Gin fight. He used his KKG in mass quantities several times. he used black lighting, he used Raiton sword, he used the treasured tools, yet he still didn't run out of chakra. His chakra levels are clearly massive from this single fight alone.
- He has top 3 jutsu speed. He was shown to stop MS Sasuke's semi-blitz with little difficulty [

- Ranton techniques (Storm release) require several hand seals [

- Ranton is one of the most underrated KKG's in the manga. The user decides how many projectiles are launched based on how much chakra he expends. This is seen when one compares the differences in this [

He can even control the Ranton while he is moving, an often overlooked feat [You must be registered for see links]. This is once again proven, when Darui throws his sword while running (can do it with Raiton enhanced..), and also launching a Ranton [You must be registered for see links]-->[You must be registered for see links] The Ranton moves tot he users will, and is extremely agile, as shown here, where he moves it around Samui at the last second [You must be registered for see links]. Notice what Kin said, they're fast and guided, supporting its extreme versatility.
- Darui has shown his Suiton and Raiton abilities independently as well. In the Sasuke fight, he used a Suiton wall with no nearby water source, and then proceeded to channel Raiton in it whilst it was active [

Had Sasuke not been of Raiton affinity, it would've surely finished the fight as Raiton's lethality is greatly increased with a nearby Suiton source. This can be done with Black Lightning as well, considering black lightning only needs 1 hand seal, and seems to be more lethal and in large quantities. He was put in charge of the shore side breach merely due to his Raiton, despite there being so many Zetsu's present [You must be registered for see links]. He used his black lighting, and ended up slaughtering a staggering amount of white Zetsu's [You must be registered for see links].
- All in all, his jutsu, despite being small in numbers at this point, are still extremely effective. This is because each one of his jutsu serves both and offensive and defensive usage. How so? Black lightning surrounds his body, making him and unviable option for physical attacks. Ranton can hit any enemy coming at him, or be curved to do so. Water wall has already shown its defensive usage, and can be used to stop offensive jutsu as well as immobilise an opponent with Raiton.
