Thoroughly answers your question why Itachi fan's, and readers who don't like it, view it as a mistake.

thats quite a ridiculous post to be completely honest. thats a perfect example of someone reading wayy too much and trying to analyze for something that isnt even complicated. the gesture doesnt need to have the same meaning when used among different persons, it all depends on the context it is used.

I see nothing ridiculous about it when the post explained how the context of the forehead poke was to allow Sasuke to live a normal life away from the troubles of the Uchiha Clan.

Chie is a bit of a Itachi fan of sorts, but she nailed down the point of comparisons.

Because it's meaningless and vague at best, or simply something Itachi used to keep
his distance from Sasuke at worst, yet is used to replace a formal wedding or
other form of contact indicating interest.

I understand some people saying that the forehead poke was intitially to keep Sasuke away from all the uchiha drama and as protection, but the reason Itachi did that was because he cared about Sasuke which Sasuke learnt later on.

So Sasuke doing it to Sarada and Sakura is just showing that he cares about them too and I suppose is his interpretation of what the forehead poke meant, thus the writer's. I'd say its more of a show for care and love between their family, as Sasuke doesn't poke Naruto on the forehead or anything even though he cares about him. Sasuke doing it is a way to keep his memory of Itachi's care and devotion to him. It's more symbolic than just a kiss or a hug to him.

If you are worried more about itachi's messages not being interpreted correctly by Sasuke then I would say yes they werent. Sasuke randomly decided to try and attack konoha and steal the tailed beasts. But thats the writing for you.

Really, NDS... We're trying to say that the forehead poke is Itachi was of keep Sasuke out of loop? That is still love no matter how you try to twist it downplay Sasuke's family.

Itachi did all of that out love for Sasuke. Even Itachi admitted he was wrong for that.

Plus, I'm %1000 sure Itachi would not see that of disrespect. If an Itachi fan said Sasuke took the meaning out of the forehead, either has a dislike Sasuke or Sakura or the pairing itself. I'm sure of it. And if I'm not mistaken Chie was a Sasuke hater?
