Show me cause I still don't see it?
Meh. Have fun disagreeing with others until this thread is closed.
Show me cause I still don't see it?
I did sometimes I say things in my head and they don't always get put down when I'm typing them. What I meant to say he doesn't always reward in a material way he can still grant you, your material wants, but the material things aren't everything. and I meant to use knowing there
calling someone's comment a stupid on is still an insult, its just someones statement its not up to you whether its stupid or not.
well.. now THAT is something that brings people together, right? xd:whoa: boobs... nice xd
you said theres lots of christians there who had given everything they had and they help they make a difference i know ppl die still but some live is like fighting cancer theres help but some die some live but not all of them dies
i was really interested to see some athiests and agnostics answer the questions of the OP but i see christians giving reasons why they believe, people debating about God existing or not, and people argueing about homosexuals being normal or natural but not soo much athiests or agnostics answering the questions...
why are you athiest or agnostic. not a hard question
oke, I don't believe in god. I do however like the original idea of religion (like/help your fellow person) and life by that idea.
the reason one would/wouldn't believe in god is his mindset.
if you want to follow a super natural something go ahead and follow it.
it will soften life for you a bit.
if you want to have the full blow of life in your face go ahead and disregard god.
in the end it doesn't matter.
besides all these discussions are useless.
just let a person believe what a person wants to believe.
whether is be himself or god but don't judge people just because they don't believe in your god and don't follow the rules of your god.
and lastly, religion is kinda messed up atm.
the original idea has disappeared
ooh and I see this has been turned into a discussion about gays.
I don't care if someone is gay
why would I??
why would anyone be afraid to admit he/she is gay???
I have to uncles (they are married together) and they are great people, an old boss of mine is gay, amazing person (very caring person, nice to everyone), a friend of mine at the university is gay, an intelligent person, so why judge every gay person just because you don't like that one gay guy down the street??
why be afraid??
and if you say it's a sin then I have this to say:
F*CK YOU, it's only in your religion because people didn't understand.
they were afraid of them and wanted them to be just like them.
homosexuality is actually quite common in nature.
ooh and the persons to fight them the most are most likely not sure of there own sexuality.
I'm not gay myself but I don't dislike a person just because he/she is gay.
I dislike a person because of who he is and how he treads me and the people around him.
is in my nature to be open minded, so i can never be an extremist.
I won't say theres a god or gods, and i won't say there isn't or aren't any either.
If im only aware(this applies to all as well)of my life, and the things that i see, hear, touch, feel, smell and sense in it, and at no point have any of these senses come into contact with a superior being, and even if they did( which they havne't), without any hard solid proof that it was infact a higher power, then i have no right WHAT SO EVER to say anything and take a position from which i'll ignorantly not move(in the eyes of others).
When people choose a faith, and/or follow a religion, 1)they do so because they seek answers to question they know they can't answer 2)think that others have the answer 3)do so because they hate to think life is just-->you live, you die, you nothing, lol 4)they think that theres more to the life and existence that surrounds them of which they are aware of 5) they're afraid of thinking theres no higher purpose to living( not the same as thinking you live and die and then nothing, more like fear that even if theres no afterlife, the idea of accepting an idea that says there was nothing special about your life, nothing behind it, no purpose 6) and more reasons that i can't think of right now.
BUT ALL I KNOW IS THIS, we live in a universe full of mystery and questions, and with a vast history that we know only a small fraction of, and among the things that we know is our understaning that a thing we call life exists, and that such a thing is amazing, weird even, how detailed it is(when we apply science), how complex, enourmous and small at the same time, that comes in differnet shapes and sizes, filled with living and no-living things or beings, that we are in a space we call the universe and is so vast that we can't even begin to comprehend its sheer size, that there are events in our lives that we say are toooo coincidential and make us go even more wild and come up with other theories about supernatural forces at work, like when we find the relation between our personalities and zodiac signs(as an ex.) and no matter what, we will have to accept the fact that as of now, we may only gain the answers to only a few of these questions and concepts.
I MYSELF just think that life in itself is too vast and interesting and wild to think you just die in the end and thats all there is to it, there has to be more, i believe(or more like i would like to believe and want to, and ill keep on doing so and see what happens, not because i expect something) that there might be beings out there, just like humans are beings or the species of mountain lions are beings, that are just more epically evolved or with better technology and they might have altered in some way life on this planet(watch it not the planet itself)-> because we cant deny theories like asteroids colliding and forming planets and yada yada yada, I mean ANYTHING GOES, those beings might actually be somehow connected to today's world religions and we dont even know it, EVEN the most craziest shit you can imagine can happen, I also believe that theres such a thing as the spirit, as in every living thing has a spirit, because ive had my own stuff happen to me that so far as well with scientific data, that are leading me to that conclusion,--> like the idea of spiritual energy(chi) and chakra, i believe that science is man kinds way of explaining things and EVERYTHING through rational, logical, and factual information can be explained and that just because theres something science cant explain, it doesnt mean that it will remain so, its just that the same way we couldnt see atoms until the microscope, we cant see or see(metaphorically) certain things until we develope the knowledge to do so, BUT IN ALL THERES SO MUCH OUT THERE, SO MANY QUESTIONS UNANSWERED, that all we do is find a way to understand(solely based on belief), wait for things to develop on their own, or find a way to understand by pulling in bits and pieces of what we truly know to be true, MY POINT is that we may all be right on our believes, some of might be, all of us might not, or theres a mix of half-truths, either way, we wont know until we know, so theres no point on feeling 100% sure on a single belief, solely follow one religion, when in fact you should leave yourself open to many or at least question daily that sole one you have followed, or not follow anything at all and just go with the flow like most aethiests.
Too long did not read lmao I wonder how many others thought that haha
The bible shouldn't be taken so literally, it is man-made. This means the bible's text is based off an opinion and therefore isn't fact. The bible is just a way to encourage good morals, which it has succeeded in doing. Imagine a world where people didn't consider killing a bad thing, it would be chaotic. But if the bible has influenced your decision to become an atheist then you might want to re-think that decision, or at least come up with a better reason.
Many atheist have a skewed image of God based on misguided beliefs. Such as thinking of God as some sort of genie that exists to cure all of their problems, then quickly turning atheist when their prayers go unanswered, leading them to think he must not be exist. Or the fact that close-minded individuals deem that because they've never seen God physically, he must not be real.
As taught in a Physics course, things such as force of gravity, force of tension, normal force or even the wind are as real as the chair you're sitting on, but never seen. Therefore, why is it so hard to believe in something you can't see? If there isn't a God so be it, but if there is, what do you lose by believing in him?
The truth of the matter is, no one has concrete evidence of God's existence. Each side can and will argue for centuries, but it is all a matter of opinion, which means neither side can be considered as fact. It is best to be open-minded to all possibilities.
asking people too read, gather wisdom, an decide whether too believe or not will not help your cause buddy.. if i was religious, i would urge people not too read the bible if they are agnostic, that archaic book is full of horrible atrocities and immoral behavior.. its the best instrument for disbelief in my opinion..
Sorry I will post it about it.
Explained below.
I see you live up to your name. ^__^
I did. :|
It is based on ones interpretation.
------------------------
I got as far as page 15 and I got tired of reading so I will put down what I believe so I can cut to the chase.
There are many things we do not know. A universe cosmos as infinite as the thoughts in my head. We perceive things in our realm of reality. To each his own world of possibilities, trials, and sound conclusions. Each cluster of atoms encompassing a multitude of ideas, thoughts, beliefs, and opinions.
We perceive what we limit ourselves to see and understand what we allow ourselves to understand. We cannot fully stretch those limits because we cannot not live far beyond our own lifetime. We have not evolved yet to a degree of substantial life expectancy. So we only know what the previous generation was able to reach. We are those entrusted to carry on the torch.
Now that I softened you up, here is what I believe.
Every being resides in their realm of perception. One sees a rock and one sees a stone. Same object but different perceptions. Choices we make may seem right to another and wrong to yet another. Since we are clustered together on this planet we are limited by each other and yet have much space to grow.
I believe in justice, love, peace, and virtue even though it is my interpretaion of it and even if in your realm of reality it is askew from yours. I am limited by the space you give me. So I must adapt. Growing all the while but keeping careful watch to not overstep my bounds.
I wish to grow more and understand much more but only as far I am willing to let myself. I do not know if there is a god/s because I, myself find very little evidence to ascertain or disapprove such a question.
I have tried Christianity, Catholicism, and some other christian denominations. I have delved as far as one can go without facts: Belief.
I have so many questions but I cannot find any simple logical, answers. I end up with responses like...
- You are not trying hard enough
- You are too lazy
- You do not have enough faith
- You do not pray enough
- You do not fast enough
- You need more effort
- You don't trust enough
No one has the answers I seek. Not one.
Until then I will live each day as it was my last and enjoy the time I do have here, in my realm of reality. Even if you disagree.
I do not understand your point.
My point was that thanking god for material stuff but saying to the africans that "god works in mysterious ways" is silly.
Atrocities not caused by God but by men, men who have gave into sin. Throughout the Bible it shows the great things that come from knowing God, believing in him, and walking by faith in him.
god created man..... :flaw:

I left church a while ago and I have read bible a lot. It is just a funny book. And why pray for better world when he won't end the suffering?
Oh God. Oh dear God.. I tried to tolerate you because you appeared to be someone simply misinformed on the term "santanism," but I'm done here.
To sum this up:
1.) Yeah, it makes sense that I'd put in "fake variants" when I was trying to help you understand the meaning of a word to further prevent you from looking like an idiot in the future.
2.) Giving me that URL didn't work for you the past several times, why would it work now? I'll answer that for you— it wouldn't. Simply because I'm aware that you have absolutely no idea what you're talking about at this point.
3.) The website you provided is third-party. That isn't official, accurate, nor reliable documentation on the term. And judging by the content of it was made by an idiot at that. What I provided you was a minimalist, reliable resource (hint: minimal). There are numerous other resources to invalidate your definition for the term satanism. Resource is emphasized because you made the allegation of me "putting in fake variants."You must be registered for see linksis the full definition of the English term satanism and aYou must be registered for see linksto the documentation from Wikipedia as opposed to you distributing a completely unreliable, self-made website hosted on Angelfire.
Need I say more? I wouldn't hope so. But at this point I don't know what to expect considering you've failed to understand a relatively simple concept.
Have a nice day.
Wikipedia said:LaVeyan Satanism is a philosophy (not considered a religion by many of its followers) founded in 1966 by Anton Szandor LaVey. Its teachings are based on individualism, self-indulgence, and "eye for an eye" morality. Unlike Theistic Satanists, LaVeyan Satanists are atheists who regard Satan as a symbol of man's inherent nature.[24] According to religioustolerance.org, LaVeyan Satanism is a "small religious group that is unrelated to any other faith, and whose members feel free to satisfy their urges responsibly, exhibit kindness to their friends, and attack their enemies".[25] Its beliefs were first detailed in The Satanic Bible and it is overseen by the Church of Satan.

This is the last post i'll put on this subject.

Its not about thanking God about just the material things it about thanking about what you have in life, and for many of the African people who do believe in God just living is enough to be thankful for.
God created man, but it was man who chose to fall and embrace sin we did it of our own free will that God gave us.
