Why are the writers so insistent on making Sakura relevant in the Naruto/Sasuke story

because she is the third main character. Lol

Even if it that's the case, she didn't belong in the Naruto/Sasuke reunion. The show has been building to it for so damn long and we waited for years and they have Sakura come in as a buzzkill. It was just poor delivery. I'm all for a Sakura character push but not during that moment.

Kishi did say he wanted Team 7 to be reunited before the series ends so it makes for Sakura to be in the Sasuke/Naruto reunion considering she is part of Team 7.

Exactly! The problem here is that Sakura character development is inconsistent threw the story. Sakura lacked development out of the four main characters in the story Naruto, Sasuke, and Kakashi. Sakura having bland normal background does not make her character stand out. Sakura ordeal with Sasuke is stupid and does not make much sense when comes to love, however when Sasuke shows up Sakura get major development lol. Sakura talked big in 615, but it was never hinted or foreshadow that Sakura gain other skill, if she get new moves now it will be a random pull.

Seems reasonable, though the manner in which she interjected was laughable. She hasn't been trained by Tsunade in a long time, yet she chooses now of all moments to show this supposed new power? Sakura is just "there" to me, and a reunion is fine, but the nature of this reunion was questionable.

Nope. It's the team 7 reunion and Sakura is a main character, like it or not.

I haven't posted here in a while but I had to be back to post about how bad they botched this.

I'm not a Sakura hater, I am happy she is getting a power up and getting a character push. But this is the worst possible timing to push her character. Right now they should have her step aside and let us finally see the long awaited Naruto/Sasuke reunion without her involvement. This is the time for the two main characters. When Ryu and Ken united at the end of street fighter to fight Bison you don't have Chun Li get involved in the fight. Or when Superman and Batman unite to face the Joker and Lex, you don't have freaking Batgirl suddenly join the fight. Or when Goku and Vegeta unite to fight Buu you didn't have Videl join the fight. There's a time and place for everything and right now wasn't Sakura's time. This was Naruto and Sasuke's broski reunion moment that the fans waited for years and she's taking center stage. Horrible.

This is team 7's reunion though, clearly stated. Not sasuke and naruto's alone. They will get their time to duke it out among the two of them.
