[Question] Why are the sternritter so stupidly powerful

The power gap between most Quincy and the sternritter is almost ridiculously wide. And all their powers seem to be especially effective on shinigami. Has it been stated why? Or are they possibly hybrids of some kind? This whole arc has shocked me with how fodderized some of the major characters were.

He was strong enough to be one but his powers were too unpredictable and uncontrollable to be reliable I think

Sternritter are so boss, each time another shows their immense power it proves how much stronger Haschwalth is, he's the strongest of all the Sternritter and is most likely Zero Squad level or above. Gremmy could have made an elite guard but he was the umph the Quincy needed on the main battlefield, had Kenpachi not been there he would still be wreaking havoc.
