Why are some people claiming Obito to be above the Sage of the Six Paths?

Come on. Obito became the jinchuuriki of the incomplete Juubi, that couldn't even get out of Sage Mode Hashirama's torii seal. He may be notably more powerful than Edo Madara at this point (however the match wouldn't be easy at all), but there's no way that he can compare to the Sage of the Six Paths, the jinchuuriki of the complete Juubi, who created the Moon, on his deathbed, while no longer being the Juubi's jinchuuriki. At most, he's more powerful than the Sage's Younger and Elder Sons, but that's as far as he can go (yes I believe the Sons to be above Edo Hashirama & Edo Madara).

What are your thoughts on this?

No, he's not near the power of the Sage at all. The Sage, while no longer being the Juubi's jinchuuriki, and while dying, created the Moon. Tell me, that Obito that was dying just a moment ago before he became the incomplete Juubi's jinchuuriki, could he create the Moon?

The incomplete Juubi's power is nothing for the Sage to worry about considering that he took down the final form of the Juubi. The Sage possessed the final form of the Juubi's power, he would have nothing to worry about against Obito.

Obito possessing the incomplete Juubi's powers wouldn't help him much. It's implied that the Sage has much more knowledge about everything than anyone else, and only Madara can even come close to his amount of knowledge (this is shown from Madara simply not caring this whole time, even when he failed to be revived he wasn't worried).

The Sage was much more powerful than Obito (pre-jinchuuriki) even on his deathbed and no longer being the Juubi's jinchuuriki, seeing as he was able to create the Moon. Comparing Obito to the Sage in his prime as the Juubi's jinchuuriki is just bordering idiocy.

I'll give you that, but the sage ( unless he can do a full Juubi transformation ) is still a person, if Obito can control the incomplete- but still godlike power and combine it with Kamui, I don't see how the sage will kill him.

The power that Obito possesses is nothing compared to the Sage, as we've seen what the Sage while dying and no longer the Juubi's jinchuuriki could do. Like I said before, the Sage, coming from the knowledge that Madara learned, knows too much for him to not have any counter to Kamui. Even Madara (who knows the most besides the Sage) doesn't seem to be impressed by the technique, and didn't even show any interest in taking Obito's eye.

There's no proof that the sage has intel on Kamui, after all the sharingan is most likely an evolution of the Rinnegan.

And if you've read and understood the manga, then you should know fairly well why old man Madara didn't take Obito's eye U_U
