Why are Sasuke and Naruto so hated by a lot of people?

Look, Naruto fanboys hate Sasuke and Sasuke fanboys hate Naruto. Both characters have relatively big fanbases, so it may seem that they are hated. Im fan of both characters so Im difficult situation, becuase usually I have to argue with all of them.

Because that is how the creator wanted it to be. They are basically opposites with similarities, and people who support something about one character dislikes when the other character does the opposite. They have there own personalities and ideas that go against the other character their supporting and this is why people compare and dislike the other character. This question shouldn't have even had this many pages.

Also the fanbase has ALOT of blame for flaming all the time.

first of all this is the shinobi world,if you can get kurama or itachis eyes to make you stronger then who are we to complain,i have never once heard sasuke or naruto complain about where the other gets their powers from
in terms of the decisions they made back in part one that was necessary fro the story to go on.Sasuke wanting to kill itachi was very much justified in that universe.for those who say sasuke wanting to slaughter THE WHOLE of konoha was also justified WHO ARE YOU AND WERE YOU RAISED BY THE MAFIA?nothing about them is realistic they are both the extremes

Both are extremely flawed characters, while being the strongest (though Kishi keeps it very ambiguous as to who is stronger, mostly hinting they are equal) and most relevant 2 characters in the series. People see only the strengths in one, and only the weaknesses in the other.

It's just the trend that people are going to side with one and dislike the other. Think Superman and Batman, the arguments never end :|
