I do actually like his character though, his ideology of absolute justice makes him interesting to me. He's very firm with what he believes in and as we've seen with his attempt with Coby, he'll do whatever he has to do to prove his point and establish his beliefs. He's a good antagonist as a marine.

I don't like what he did to Ace but I can't help but like Akainu as a character in this story for what he represents.

He is a good villain, one of my favorites actually. Villians need to kill heroes for me to like and admire them. This guy murdered Ace in front of luffy. and for that it makes him a good villain.

Villains are good when they make the readers hate them, its like orichimaru torturing those babies, Sakura allowing Konoha to be massacred by not attacking sasuke, Kabuto capturing and killing innocent people, Light murdering innocents, Prince Charles raining vengeance on mankind killing hundreds of thousands, the spiral king enslaving and making people starve to death,

When villains do evil it is what makes the reader angry and makes the reader spur the heroes on to end their lives.
