He was talking about BM. He's warning the others to not be too proud or they'll be beaten.

It's just (presumably) a self-created proverb or metaphor that in this situation can be taken literally. In this particular case Tamago was referring to that the arrogance/pride of being part of BM's crew could lead to their destruction as despite everything that has happened some of them are still acting like it's no big deal.

Essentially it's just a variation of the proverb 'pride comes before the fall' and can be used for everyone who is in a position of power and gets too arrogant because of it.
