Interesting. I never thought about the archetype for super-powerful villain, good guy turned evil due to a personal tragedy.
If compared to Anakin/Vader, Obito is the closer match.

People think I'm comparing personalities, but I'm not, I'm comparing archetypes, traits, experiences, and motivations.

Nagato obviously. Think about it. There's nothing similar between Obito and Anakin other than the fact that they were once good guys becoming villains. Here's how Nagato and Darth Vader are similar.


-Both were the prophecized heroes who should have fixed everything.

-Both prophecies suggested that it could go wrong.

- Both characters then became evil and gave into their hatred

-Both characters ended up killing their masters.

-Both antagonized the other student of said master.

-Both sacrificed their lives to make things right.

Pretty much the same story if you think about it.

Thanks. I honestly hope a death battle is made between the 2 of them. Nagato VS Anakin, transitions into Pain VS Vader. (Nagato wins BTW, except maybe Vader from Force Unleashed)

-both had their potential ruined. Nagato was crippled, and had to use corpses with degenerated versions of his powers. The Star Wars books make it clear that being a cyborg cuts off connection to the force to a certain degree if it's more than a lost limb.
