I know this dosen't mean guys faster because its obvios by the comments and i agree with all of you who say minatos's faster.
But i think their is a way for guy to counter minatos technique.
Ok I know Minato would be faster because of his technique. But wouldn't opening up all 8 gates increase his reflexes to an unhuman over hax level lulz . Just a theory thoughg. I dont even know if opening all gates affects your reaction speeds at all. But if it did wont it allow guy to react faster to minato's FTG and counter thus making him counter minatos movements (eg: stab him,mark him etc....) rendering FTG useless Just a theory.

Why would you compare FTG to 8gates? It's like your comparing speed for transport and agility for body movement. FTG is used to transport user to another location given the special kunai or marking is present and as for 8gates, the user is able to move fast because of boosted chakra and physical attributes.

Well what the gates does is allow a person to fully access all of their chakra at once, right? That is what the manga and databook say anyway.

So a ninja normally has access to about 20% of their total chakra, because the "chakra gates" limit the flow of chakra to the body, so the body doesn't wear itself out really fast.

Because of this the body is unaccustomed to using all of its chakra and it is really harmful to the user. This is why Guy trains his body only, because if he did not then the gates would hurt him even more.

So now is where I explain why the Guy with the gates can never be as fast as A or Bee or Naruto.

Normal taijutsu requires chakra (or part of the stuff that makes chakra) just like anything else. Normally taijutsu requires less chakra than ninjutsu and genjutsu. However when opening the gates Guy and Lee are enhancing their speed and strength with chakra.

Any ninja can do this, Sasuke did it in Part 1 to copy Lee's speed, which was necessary to perform chidori at that time. That is why it wore Sasuke out so much more than it did Lee, because Lee trained to be that fast, whereas Sasuke was using chakra to augment his natural speed.

So anyway back to the point. There are 8 gates and each gate allows for 10% more of your chakra to be utilized. You start out at 20% and by the eight gate you will be using 100% of your chakra. This is why opening the 8th gate guarantees death, chakra exhaustion is a sure thing if you are pouring out all your chakra. (This is why ninjas have the gates too, to prevent death by chakra exhaustion)

So since Guy and Lee are augmenting their speed with chakra they will never be able to reach the speed of someone who has more natural speed than or someone who has far more chakra if that person is also using a speed boosting mode. (tailed beast mode, KM , lightning armor)

The reasoning behind it is this.

Let's consider A for a second. He has tailed beast level chakra yes?

Guy does not.

So let's say A has 5 times more chakra than Guy. And let's give them numerical values.

Guy's chakra levels = 1 (1/5th of A's)
A's chakra levels = 5

So normally each is using 20% of their total chakra levels right?

so that brings Guy down to 1/5th and A down to 1.

Now if Guy were to open all 8 gates that would put his chakra he can access at any one time back at 1, which is now equal to A's levels.

Which means that they have the same chakra levels to put into augmenting their speed and strength. But A is not just augmenting his speed with chakra, he is augmenting his neuro-synapses with lightning (electricity is how are neurons fire) to increase his reaction times and speed even more than if he were just using plain chakra.

So if A were just using chakra to augment his speed, and he had 5 times more chakra than Guy (which is a conservative estimate judging by A's chakra levels and how fast Guy gets tired while in the gates) then that means they would be the exact same speed and it would matter who is faster without chakra augmentation. However A is using lighting as well to increase his synapses.

The same exact thing can be applied to Bee and Naruto, except Bee and Naruto have more chakra than A does. So that is why it is possible for Bee and Naruto to go faster than A, and why it is possible for A to move faster than Guy.

First we have the 8 gates, when any gates are open the user is given an immense boost in chakara and physical attributes depending on how many gates are opend. The user moves at very high speeds and is almost impposible to see.Rendering the opponent unable to counter, even the sharingan will have a hard time keeping up with it (IMO i doubt it can even keep up with the speeds which opening the 8 gates grants to the user)When any of the gates are open the user suffers major pain afterwards and the damage can be more severe depending on how many gates are opened. However when all 8 gates are opened though your strength,speed etc... will be at hax levels the user will ultimately die afterwards.

On the other we have the Flying Thunder God Technique (FTG) which is renouned as the fastest technique.At this point in time It has two levels. FTG and FTG lv2. FTG was on par with tobi (madara) when he attacked the hidden leaf village. However FTG lv 2 surppased madra's space time technique.Which everyone in the current naruto universe is having trouble with. It does not result in death and can constantly be used till the user runs out of chakara.However the only downfall to this technique is that you can only transport to where the user of the FTG has marked with special seals.

Let me hear your thoughts and your opinion on who you think is faster and why you would have that technique of the other.

IMO i go with the power to open up gates because i think its faster in every way and you dont need markings to travel at high speeds. The user can move freely. But the only downfall is that you die when you reach 8 gates.But whatever ill just spam 7 gates downwards

It's FTG. Guy's speed would be moving from point A to point B to point C but Minato's FTG is capable of going straight to point C. Minato's base speed is around Naruto's Kyuubi Mode speed, evidence of this is when Bee said Naruto was like a "Yellow Flash" which is Minato's nickname he received from his base speed. Yes Minato got his nicknae from his base speed, FTG is teleportation and leaves no trace of movement from point A to point B so no yellow flash would have be seen. Guy had to use the 7th gate to catch Kisame when he wa running away so Guy at 7th gate is not as fast as A's lightning armor level 1. As for FTG, you can leave marks around areas as you go on missions and soon you can teleport anywhere.

Well before I had never really thought about it either, but then Naruto got KM and everyone was making speed lists.

But the logic behind it works and those were the rules Kishi set up. That is why someone who has insane chakra levels can always go faster than someone with normal chakra levels.

You are right though, Guy is very fast, he probably comes in 4th (in movement speed, I'm not counting Minato's FTG because that is automatically the fastest)

EDIT: To counter the FTG would be pretty tough. You would have to make sure that Minato never touches anything with his hands. Because he can tag anything once he touches it, a person, a rock, a tree, anything.

So you would have to blitz him right off the bat so he can't throw any kunai or tag anything else. Then all you have to do is be faster than his normal speed. Which Guy in the gates might be, who knows how fast Minato's base speed really is? All we saw was that it was fast enough to save Kakashi when Kakashi was about a foot away from his opponent and Minato was way farther back. We also saw Minato's base speed when he saved Naruto from Tobi trying to kill Naruto. And another time when Minato used FTG to dodge A's blitz attack and then used his normal speed to get back and almost kick A before A even had time to turn around.

Guy could just wait until minato throws his shuriken or specia kunai and grab them all (in 7 gates then throw them up in the air and any that minato throws downwards he could just catch and throw back up although minato might be able to get places guy would be able to react to his attaks fast enough ftg isnt an attack its just transportation and if minato put a seal on him guy would know as soon as minato shows up and he'd punch him (minato's base speed is not faster than guys 7 gate open speed)

yea i agree in speed wise 8 gates looses but battle wise i think guy in 8 gates could defeat minato(judging that we have only seen 3 moves of minato) however unless we see more of what minato can do guy is the winner.

you are trying to compare teleportation vs speed.... gai is speed minato is teleportation..... theres no speed when your teleporting... its just a teleport from one place to another..... the only advantage speed has over teleportation is the option of where to go.... minato has to throw a kunai at his destination and is instantly there.... while someone with speed can go where ever they want..... fail thread imo

By the way the gates are overrated. By alot. Opening up the eight gates doesn't make you the fastest character in the universe. Even if Guy went 8 gates there would still be two or possibly 3 people faster than him.

you people unfathomably overrate A's lightning armour. ya'll really think that his lightning armor Augments his speed which is clearly false!

Raikage's speed is naturally fast! his lightning armour only augments his reflexes and chakra levels, "stated by shee and karin." and he combines that bijuu level chakra with his the "body flicker jutsu" which grants him the ability to traverse short distances "almost" instantly. hence the reason why he was able to dodge amaterasu.

the body flicker technique is something gai does not use. he uses his natural body acceleration speed which is clearly super sonic or maybe even hypersonic. "Hence" the fact that his striking speed is fast enough to ignite the atmosphere. it's only common sense that his acceleration speed is the same thing.

im going to be making a thread about the raikage's speed soon. to clear up a few things for you people
