Who would you have had Tobi be?

Back before the mask came off and it was revealed after all these years to be Tobi, this forum was crazy with speculation so...although we now know him to be Obito, who would you want him to be?

I, given the choice would've honestly made him a future Sasuke. They should've focused more on how Tobi made Sasuke his student and encouraged Sasuke and Naruto to fight- I always found tobis interest with Sasuke to be suspicious, it could've been a future Sasuke or a parallel world Sasuke (Kamui is mysterious and could've easily explained this) it also makes the prophecy make sense and would start to bring things to a close.

My favourite theory was that Tobi wasn't actually anybody. The masked man that people would see was actually just a clan of different people all with the same mask. This is why they all seem to have different personalities and different costumes and fighting styles. They could've all been UCHIHA survivors or a cult. Fugaku would've been the one with the chains that fought minato, the Good Boy Tobi was Obito, the long haired Tobi in the hidden mist was Shisui or Izuna and the war costume was Madara. How cool would that have been?! And it also explains every single plot hole and asspull
And the best thing was:

Everybody would've been right!

I wasn't much of a fan for the future sasuke theory but the last one you stated i kinda wished were true or it to have been Izuna because at least Izuna would have been better then Obito

I also wanted tobi to be a clone too :I so he could be anybody but his idenity was long foreshadowed by his kamui, both him and kakashi had the move also before obito in kakashi gaiden, he said ''I wished i could have stayed a bit longer'' so yeah Kishimoto put that quote there intentionally he was finished with the character obito

Either shisui,kagami,izuna,the real madara,sages elder son or some unknown uchiha and to be honest i would have preferred it to be either of these even though i admit before his identity was revealed i had a feeling it might have been obito but then i had doubts cause tobi had knowledge of things obito wouldn't/couldn't have known cause obito obviously wasn't around in the so6p's era or hashirama and madaras era but then in the war when tobi mentioned stuff that only someone who knew kakashi or guy would know i thought to myself that so and so is soooooooooooo obviously obito uchiha and later on it was confirmed when naruto smashed his mask "Into Pieces".

I was rather disappointed that Tobi wasn't actually Madara.

I had wanted him to be Madara or some form of him. I was extremely disappointed.

But then afterwards (when we knew he wasn't actually Madara), I thought Kagami would be the best bet.

He should have stayed as the Masked Man even in death, Izuna? Kagami? Madara? Obito? none of them come close to the badassness the Masked Man had.

I'm cool with the fact it's Obito. Although it would've been awsome if it was Izuna because we would've known more about him and how he would've been made out as rivalling his brother Madara in the Project Tsuki no Mei. It would've also made sense as to why he would be helping and supporting Sasuke during the 5 Kage Summit arc, since Sasuke resembles Izuna alot. hmm

I still think that it's really bad how Izuna was fodderized straight away by Tobirama during Hashirama's story in the manga. I mean, we didn't even see much of his Mangekyo abilities. U_U
