[Question] Who would Luffy trust to take care of the crew?

Lets just say Luffy has something very dangerous that only he alone must do and he says to a crew member "please if anything happens forget me and escape with the crew"

Who would he pick?

He'd leave it up to all of them to work together and escape, the same way they do even when he's there. If anything, Sanji and Nami would be the ones most exhibiting ¨in-charge¨ roles during the escaping. If the escaping involves fighting, Zoro will obviously have things to say, but what he says during this time isn't really orders per se.

I was asking which crew member would manage to motivate them to leave despite their pleas

Nami is one of the top three people in the crew who should have control after Luffy, probably the very first of these three.

Depends on the scenario. If they're somewhere at sea and could potentially run into a really bad storm or need to depart from a horde of some sort, Nami.

If they're in need of some muscle because they'll have to fight their way out, Zoro.

If they're dealing with a hardship and will need emotional/morale support (which knowing the Strawhats is unlikely, but just in case) Sanji.

^ Agree with this one. These old members are the most reliable when it comes to such occasion. Usopp will behave more like an emotional guy if his best friend Luffy says that so he can't really takes control of the situation.

Though, i have a feeling the mutual understanding between Luffy and Zoro plays a major part on this, it's always like that ever since Romance Dawn. Zoro would ensure the safety of each crew as his captain has wanted, and others carry out their nature roles (navigating, supporting, talking some senses etc)

OT: He'd entrust his crew with Zoro as Zoro is the second strongest in the crew. But later Zoro'll definitely discuss about the future of crew with them (Whether they want to follow him or not) and leave the decision upto them.


I said Zoro because only thing Luffy would think about in such a situation is whether the person who is going to lead his crew is strong enough to protect them or not and Obviously his first choice would be Zoro.

Well everyone already has their role specified in their recruitment and so everyone wld do as they wld if Luffy was there no need to name a shots caller.

If the something happened to the crew however , smthing very awful in his absence I wld say depending on the circumstances he wld wld blame Zoro first after himself n before anyone else though that's still a tad out of character as him saying "guys I might not survive" his lines r more in the alley of "I'm gonna beat you/whoever to a pulp"

Usopp was promised control if Luffy ever left. Even if only comedic Luffy would leave usopp in charge.

Zoro would be the most logical choice to take care the crew in Luffy's absence. Luffy places a lot of trust in Zoro more than any other crew memeber U_U..also people could argue and say Sanji would lead the crew or Nami because they are smarter than Zoro and more strategic but its not always the smartest or the most brilliant that lead. It takes charisma and the belief people have in you to lead and from what ive seen Zoro has that than any other member apart from Luffy.
