From an IRL perspective Byakugan craps all over sharingan. What good is movement tracking going to do when most ppl have crap reflexes and will still get beat in a fight, only thing is you'll see the punch coming much better. Seeing the color of chakra means nothing. Byakugan's 360 vision and range has a plethora of uses and has way more utility.

With the Sharingan I can copy the answers of someone who always studies by copying their moves. The Sharingan would be far more subtle, while the Byakugan will literally have veins crackling near your eyes.

Movie says that it awakens when a Byakugan (irrelevant of whether its Hyuga or Ootsutsuki in orgin) synergizes with the Chakra of an Ootsutsuki, so no Hyuga Chakra is involved. This only applies to Rennigan with Indra and Ashura's Chakras.

And that's because the Byakugan contains the chakra of a Hyuga. The bold is never once stated in the movie. What's heavily implied though is that he came specifically for Hanabi because her Byakugan was special compared to the rest. Then we have the fact that the Tenseigan alter has the Byakugan of his ancestors stored inside them yet he went from the Moon to Earth to get a Byakugan, meaning he needs a Hyuga Byakugan with Hyuga chakra because Hyuga+Ootsutsuki=Tenseigan.

And why's that? Hamura had both Tenseigan and Byakugan, yet Hagoromo only had Rennigan.

How does Hamura having Tenseigan and Byakugan while Hagoromo only having Rinnegan change the fact that the awakening requirements for both Tenseigan and Rinnegan are identical in the sense you need two divided bloodlines to remake the power of the progenitor?

Indra's Sharingan is a throwback to Kaguya's own RenniSharingan, which Hagoromo himself said had the abilities of the Sharingan (Precognition, Genjutus, Copying abilities). I have no idea how you look at Hagomoro and Kaguya and say he got the Sharingan from Hagromo.

That's all genetics. Hagoromo not having the Sharingan doesn't mean that he didn't pass down the ability to awaken it to his son, which he obviously did as his son possesses it.

Hyuga+Ootsutsuki=Tenseigan.
Uchiha+Senju=Rinnegan.

The Tenseigan literally has no more relation to the Byakugan than the Sharingan has to the Rinnegan. Even Kabuto and Oro were hypothesizing on Sharingan being capable of evolving into Rinnegan, so whether or not they were right or not there is enough of a relation to ask that question. If you want to talk about Tenseigan as Byakugan's peak I can easily talk about Rinnegan being Sharingan's peak.

The answer probably depends on what the situation you are in. In some situations, it will be the Sharingan, other situations the Byakugan. As of right now, the Sharingan has hunderds of chapters focusing on it and its abilities...etc etc. With Boruto's manga/anime the Byakugan will most likely get more focus. So, perhaps, the anwser might change in the future....

to me, personally, the Byakugan is probably the safest thing to get. I wouldn't want to take the sharingan/MS to get blind after awhile.
