Akainu is the only important character that luffy really hates. I honestly feel like luffy and sabo should defeat him together in the final war with the world gov't.

Luffy and Sabo by that time should be way too strong to need to work together to defeat an admiral. Saying they should tag team him is implying neither can do it alone.

Which is definitely not going to be the case for Luffy at least.

True, by that time they should definitely be able to do a 1v1 against him but it just feels like that's the only way for both brothers to feel like ace's death is redeemed in some way. Akainu might get way stronger by that point to let it happen but that's unlikely.

I want Luffy to fight Akainu but its seems like Sabo might. Also if Luffy beats BB for the PK title its going to look weird for him to fight someone like Akainu afterwards.

The problem by that time in the series is Luffy not having a worthy opponent imo. Sabo on the other hand who will be weaker than Luffy should find Akainu to be very challenging.

That's the problem right there, the power scaling is hard to determine in one piece. We know for sure that the straw hats, sabo, coby, the worst generation, and the blackbeard pirates will get strong, but does that mean that characters like dragon, akainu, shanks, and kaidou are as strong as they have always been or do they get stronger as well.

Yeah man that's how I see it, you would have thought these guys had gotten weaker with age and injuries. The final war would be redundant if Luffy just fights BB again but he has to have somebody to fight.

I can't imagine him fighting Coby, no matter if he does reach Admiral level. And Akainu can't present the kind of danger BB could at that point. Unless Luffy gets ganged I can't see him being in any real danger.

What if he gets nerfed? Guess we are just going to have to wait and see.

luffy will beat akainu but refuses to kill him and walks away.
Then akainu tries to kill luffy with a sneak attack then sabo will save luffy by punching right through the chest of akainu just like the way we saw akainu punching right through the chest of ace.thus both luffy & sabo are satisfied.Hence garp feels proud and announces coby as the new fleet admiral
