I can Honestly see her Joining. Oda would definitely take everyone by surprise if this were to happen.
I agree, it's very like Oda to do so. He's not one to make things obvious.
People said the same about Robin before she joined the crew. Most people, as far as I know, expected Vivi to join, just 'cause she got along with the crew, helped them, and fit in perfectly. It would've been too obvious.
It made sense for Robin, and/or Vivi to join. Neither one seemed impossible.
How you just described Sugar in the crew would be perfect. I'd love to see something new like that, a grumpy girl who'd avoid any contact with the members, just like a cat - but maybe that's just me. Also, her fear of long things add to the humor of the show.
He's not grumpy, he's just a short-tempered slacker.
Meh, I feel that Violet would be more appropriate. Violet has a unique ability. She would be very useful for scouting long distance areas if they are trying to run from enemies or trying to find the next island.
You do know there's a thing called character development, right? That doesn't just apply to Sugar, either. Even though I'm not a big fan of Rebecca, nothing suggests that her growth as a character has stopped. A person's personality can change in one day, you know. Regardless, I'm pretty sure you can scratch her off your list, considering how it seems that she's retired as a warrior.

Let's go over this once more. What I'm saying is that there's a hella lot of space for Sugar's character to develop, while in Viola's case, her character is starting to run dry. We know of her past, which, in my opinion, pales compared to the average "sad" past. As if that wasn't enough, there's nothing that suggests she has some sort of dream, which has, up till now, been revealed during a member's flashback. Unless Oda decides to pull something out of his ass and give her some random dream, I doubt her joining will ever happen.
If he'll ever join a pirate crew, it'd be the Heart Pirates. That's what I think, at least.
Dude Sugar HATES the SHs, especially Usopp. There is no way that Sugar is going to join.
'Cause it's impossible for a character to have a change of heart, right? It wasn't as if Franky ever hated the Strawhats or anything. Truly a miracle how Oda decided to develop his character any further.
'Cause getting knocked out by surprise that 2nd time by Usopp changed her world views and made her gain respect and admiration for the Straw Hats, right? There is literally no evidence to support that Sugar will join the SHs. And using your logic in this post, I can say that Doflamingo joining because of a change of heart is a possibility, right? This arc is coming to an end and Sugar isn't going to get a chance to get to bond with the SHs like Franky did, not that her doing so would be likely anyways, since she is knocked out and still hates the SHs more than anything.
Bonding with the Strawhats isn't necessary - Robin is a great example of that. She had literally only talked to them once before she stepped onboard their ship. The only reason she was allowed to join, was because of the captain's decision. There's nothing more to it. Also, things aren't just black and white, which you seem to believe. If Oda wants to create a twist to the whole Strawhats-to-be deal, then he's free to do so. It's not always the same setup, you know - meeting a new character, befriending said character, helping said character, then let him or her join the crew.
