Who was Kakashi more like?

I always found it sad that Kakashi related to Sasuke during the early team 7 days. They'd both lost basically everybody in their lives and had the cool, quiet attitude. I mean remember had that talk with Sasuke when he was tied against the tree?

Kakashi specifically chose to train Sasuke for the Chunnin exams and taught him his best move. Kakashi probably saw his young self in Sasuke- which sadly turned out to not be the case. He never had the killer spark inside of him that set them apart.

Surprisingly, Naruto ended up as the Will of Fire carrier. He would go on to surpass Kakashi through his own training (rasenshuriken) Not only this but they both failed to keep their life-long promise to an important person in their life. Kakashi failed to keep Rin safe and Naruto failed to bring back Sasuke. They actually share more in common than you'd think.

What do you think? I kinda like how Kakashi is his own character and not just a carbon copy of someone else like many other Naruto characters are. He's almost like a mix between Naruto AND Sasuke. And a little bit of Sai.

Pretty accurate analysis. Kakashi did in fact teach Sasuke Chidori for that exact reason, if you remember when Gai asked Kakashi why he would teach Sasuke such a dangerous move Kakashi replied, "Because he's just like me."

So in the early days Kakashi and Sasuke related to eachother a bit more, but now that the stories progressed we don't have carbon-copy generations anymore.

Oi, lay off Sai. He's cool.

There are similarities between them, they're both the quiet, calm and stealthy ones of the group. Both of their 'brothers' are dead and they always are seen reading pocketbooks.

Yes but I found it a bit sad how Kakashi tried to see himself in Sasuke. It's clear when Kakashi and Sasuke fight that he's not just disappointed in Sasuke- he's disappointed in himself.

He saw Sasuke in himself definitely, but that disappeared. Probably why he wanted to take him out himself because he knew that he should have done more to keep him on the right path. But yea he's definitely his own character, one of the best Kishi made.

To be honest, I was kind of surprised when all of this happened and when I realized that Naruto and Kakashi do have these things in common. I too thought that Kakashi found himself more similar to Sasuke this whole time. But I agree, Kakashi is very much his own character.

Naruto and Kakashi made similar decisions, Sasuke and Kakashi are similar in character. Honestly though, apart from the "genius" mentality, the last two aren't that alike. Naruto and Kakashi even less.
