You don't need the soul when you resurrect, they mindless. If you're talking about the fight between the 3rd and Orochimaru when you said "it didn't work", then the reason is not because the soul wasn't there, remember the 3rd did something so that the coffin wouldn't be summoned.

on the conditions section its is written that those who used death reaper seal cannot be resurrected .since minato used death reaper seal to seal the kyubi inside naruto and his soul is inside the death god's belly , it is sure that it waasnt minato but someone else whom even madara/tobi feared.

ffs -_- it was the 4th, it was no one else, orochimaru said it himself he intended to summon the 4th... he just didn't know about the dead demon seal so it couldn't work, n yes the soul IS required for the jutsu to work, it is the whole point of it... to the person who said it wasn't you don't know the manga at all -_- some people on here are so damn stubborn its pathetic -_-
