There seems to be some fans that believe Hanabi is stronger than Hinata, which confuses me to no end. I've explained to a couple fans that Hinata is way stronger than Hanabi for the fact that we've never seen Hanabi even pull off a Hyuga style technique canonically. Not even once. In the last Naruto movie, she was easily captured by a single puppet of Toneri's. If she knew any advanced Hyuga jutsus like Hinata and Neji, she'd surely have the skill to defend herself.
Whereas Hinata later on, fended off a bunch of Toneri's puppets with relative ease.
I think some people that believe Hanabi is somehow stronger than Hinata is because of the whole "Hanabi has more potential than Hinata" thing. The problem with this claim is that it's been shot down. That claim was only a means of hyping Hanabi's character up because she has never proved or shown any real potential herself. Hanabi having more base potential never meant that she was stronger than Hinata. It just meant that she COULD become stronger than Hinata. People have a tendency of misunderstanding the idea of having more potential than another person. The only reason Hanabi was given the title of Heiress is because Hiashi lacked any real judgement of true strength and hardwork. He was a believer of natural born talent, similar to Orochimaru. Hiashi believed Hinata's kindness was a weakness, which leads to the reason why Hinata chose not to strike down her little sister in one of the Hyuga sisters episodes. It's like with the Sasuke vs Itachi fight. Sasuke has never really beaten Itachi. Itachi simply had no intention of killing Sasuke and held back. Same with Hinata and Hanabi. Hinata held back against Hanabi.
Hinata is also canonically stated to be a master of the gentle fist.
Not to mention that Hinata was able to meet Hamura Otsutsuki, one of the sons of Kaguya Otsutsuki and inherit his chakra,the main reason to Boruto's Unique Doujutsu.
i just dont know why people say shes weaker than her sis,or bash her,maybe because of the amount of haters who hate on Naruto,and considering shes paired with him,it became convenient and justified to hate on her.
