Good theory. And if the hokage makes 13 year olds go to war and KILL OTHER PEOPLE... what's so different about sending Kakashi to kill Rin? Maybe Minato was on another important mission and couldn't take care of this himself.

Ok so we all see here Kakashi killing Rin:

I think Kakashi did it with a reason.Before this mission,Minato told Kakashi(without Rin knowing)that he mustn't let the enemy gather any information about Konoha.So here we go,seeing that Rin could get captured and was a good source of information,Kakashi had no choice but to kill her.He thaught that protecting Konoha was more important than Rin,of course it was a painfull decision because he was crying.


Now then,Obito saw Kakashi killing Rin and somehow he will find later that it was set by Konoha elders.Consumed by hatred,he accepts helping Madara with project tsuki no me(the moon's eye plan),and after 1/2 years(not sure),he plans to destroy Konoha with the nine tails.See here:

One of the best theories about Rin's death for now.
When he stabbed Rin with a Chidori he didn't look suprised and he was crying.So that rules out the theory of zetsu being rin,killing her by mistake,or zetsu was kakashi.

I will make this concise:


Some people say that Kakashi accidentally killed Rin, BUT if Kakashi accidentally killed Rin, he would have been shocked and his eyes would look like what it is shown on the right panel of this page:

Notice his eyes. It is wide open because he was shocked upon hearing Obito's statement.

But take a look when Kakashi stabbed Rin with Chidori:

His eyes are tearing. No one cries that fast upon shock. If Kakashi accidentally killed Rin, he'll first be shocked for a while, before tearing up.

Take a look again, his eyes are somber, as if he had no other choice but to kill Rin. If it was an accident, his eye would be wide open out of shock.

Now take a look again, his chidori is still active. If it was by accident, he would have withdrawn Chidori the instant he knew it was Rin. But as we have seen, Kakashi had time to cry, so he didn't withdraw Chidori on purpose.


EDIT: Another fact to prove my point, when Yahiko let Nagato stab him:

Look at Nagato's eyes, wide open out of shock.
