Pretty sure Gaara's was worst.
Sasuke loved his family
Gaara loved Yashamaru
Both were neglected by family as well, sasuke had to work extremely hard to fill the shoes of his brother with little acknowledgement. This gave him a great attachment to not only his brother, but his family.
Gaara was always neglected, he never came to know what a true bond was, now I'm not saying that's bad but when one has no bonds they have the potential to gain new ones, sasuke lost that trust & severed any & all bonds he had. Gaara's childhood had hope, sasuke's was losing potential.
Sasuke saw his brother kill his family
Gaara killed the only person he loved/loved him
Lol dont be so simple about it, not only did Itachi kill sasuke's family/friends/clansmen, he made sasuke relive that experience over & over again.
Gaara had a one time traumatic experience, after that he was scarred but it was over.
Itachi Tsukuyomi'ed Sasuke
Gaara's dad tried to kill him multiple times
As I said Itachi's tsukuyomi continuously forced sasuke to relive the experience of his parents death, he lived this experience more times than we could probably count. After Itachi's 2nd tsukuyomi sasuke literally had a mental breakdown. Not only that but itachi knew how to manipulate a uchiha into gaining the sharingan & therefore he was able to manipulate sasuke perfectly in conjunction with his hatred. Some could say that it even worked too well.
Itachi gave Sasuke a purpose in life
Gaara wandered without purpose eventually deciding it was to kill.
Sasuke's purpose revolved around hatred & murder of his flesh & blood. Gaara as a child acted out of defense, sasuke was literally put in a position where he needed to kill his brother. & that experience continued to haunt him every time they encountered eachother.
Honestly, witnessing your foundations getting destroyed around you is much worse than not having any foundations to begin with (gaara/no purpose).
Itachi emotionally scarred Sasuke, but Sasuke knew he was loved at some point
Gaara's father had Gaara convinced that neither Yashamaru, Gaara's mother, Gaara's father, and Gaara's siblings never loved him
Itachi told sasuke that he was merely alive to measure his capacity, Itachi made it as if sasuke's life was one big game to him, even until death (by gaining EMS).
& as I said its much worse losing your foundation than it is to have no foundation to begin with. Gaara had a brother & sister who were there for him, he may have been convinced that they didnt love him but they were still there.
Sasuke had a support network to fall back on (the village and it's citizens)
Gaara had no one whatsoever for any kind of support.
Gaara had his siblings
Sasuke's path was what caused him to sever his connection to konoha, he was never going back, it was not even an option for him
Sasuke opted not have real bonds with others
Gaara couldn't make real bonds despite how hard he tried.
Sasuke found out the truth & so did gaara, however not only was gaara already good at that point, the truth about his family didnt fuel his hate even more, as sasuke's did. Even when sasuke found out the truth of his brother he still had to cope with the fact that he was forced to kill someone that actually loved him. He was deceived his whole life, one lie after another, gaara was deceived once, neglected, but eventually found his answer.
Sasuke was put in a position where he chose not to accept any bonds, gaara on the other hand was practically crying out for a bond. This should show you how different their situations were. Yes gaara experienced trauma but who hasnt? The fact that Itachi continuously forced sasuke to relive that trauma is what did it in the end.
Tsukuyomi is strong.
