First of all his face was masked which I love. Second I like his Takigakure head band. Third is his attitude. He doesn't underestimate anyone. Also his introduction into the series was epic.....here Hidan is getting in a worse and worse situation and all he does is just stand there like a badass. Then he just casual asks Hidan had he wanted help he should have asked sooner.

The moment I knew he was my favorite was when he pimp slaps Asuma with a briefcase filled with blood money earned by killing Asuma's friend XD

Finally he goes and throughs out almost all five elements (all of them in the anime) just after Kakashi mentions that most shinobi have at best 2 elements. Was just epic when he was just manhandling everyone! Fighting Hashirama was a bonus!!!!
