[Spoilers] Who is/was more suited for the Mera Mera no Mi?

Hi OP fans, this thread is about who is/was more suited for the Mera Mera no Mi; Ace or Sabo?

While I think Sabo is a good replacement for the Mera Mera no Mi in Ace's place (since Ace is dead now), I still think Ace was more suited for the Mera Mera no Mi than Sabo.

But what about you guys? What do you think? You can post the reason why you think either Ace or Sabo is better suited for the Mera Mera no Mi.

Voted for Ace-san since I'm more of a traditionalist. Whoever had it first, belongs to them and it's their special trademark. The power does fit his personality, being hot, fiery, and wild. U_U

Ace was badass with his fire devil fruit but I think Sabo is more suited for it. Ace was excellent as a physical brawler and I don't think he was as creative or tactical as Sabo was when they were kids.

Back in the day Ace said that Luffy's devil fruit was lame and useless in combat but Sabo could see the potential. I am sure that now that Sabo has Ace's devil fruit he will take the ability Ace had and use it better than Ace. He already has applied the flames to the metal pipe he uses in battle so he gets cool points for that. Can't wait to see what else he does. His attacks have a lot of dragon references so that would also give interesting named attacks, not that Ace didn't have cool names for his attacks.

Sabo is more suited because its complimentary to his hakified martial arts rather then Ace just rocking the Mera Mera primarily with no fighting style at all, making it so limited. Also I think Sabo can do something special with the Mera Mera

Aokiji-Does Blue Pheasent with his Ice

I think Sabo can form 15 foot Twin Dragons with his fire EOS...like turning both of his arms into the head of Dragons kind of like How Magellan uses Hydra..making him a complete Dragon and giving him versatily

Example-If Sabo points his fingers at you...it forms into a Flaming Dragon heads and it follows in the direction he points too..relentlessly

Alsso Sabo has something Ace lacked and thats killing intent..fire always works best with people who are passionate

I want to say it fits Ace's personality and his looks as well. It just screams fire.

Sabo's personality isn't I would say bad for it, but it feels like he only ate it because it was Ace's fruit. Seems forced, like he wouldn't have eaten it otherwise, like it may not be a power he has always wanted. Though it fits his back story since he sort of "died" by fire.

I think Ace is more suited for it.

Just stemming from above comment. I didn't like how the fruit was mentioned after Ace's death so soon and became a plot point for this arc. I wish it would've died along with Ace, When it comes to logia fruits, Oda assigned them so the type of power is associated with the character's overall design. Just imagine if the ruthless Akainu had the cool and chill tempered Aokiji's ice powers and vice versa. Look at Smoker's character and as well as Caribou's.


Ace was hot-headed, always wanted to fight for what's right and never take no for an answer type of guy, and the fruit was perfect for him. Fire is an aggressive and highly volatile element and that's the reason how Ace got himself captured and killed him. In the war, the stronger Akainu confronted the weaker Ace baiting him and Ace took it because of his fiery temperament. There's no way he would walk away from someone making fun of someone he cares for even though the odds aren't in his favour.
