Who is to say that the clans necessarily have to do incest?

I have thought about something whenever I hear people say stuff like "Naruto is only half Uzumaki" or that a hyuuga or Uchiha could not marry out of the clan. Here is my question: What proof do we have that the latter two statements haven't already happened plenty of times? Think about it.

Sasuke's mom's name was Mikoto Uchiha, but she could have gotten that name by marriage for all we know. I mean, it is not like we ever saw her fight and we never saw any fire styles or sharingan from her, so we technically have no proof that she was an Uchiha by blood. It could be that sharingan is a dominant trait, which is why Sasuke and Itachi got the ability to awaken it.

The same goes for the hyuuga clan. We have not seen Neji's mom, so she could lack byakugan for all we know.

My theory is further supported by a key fact:

Indra was the first true pure Uchiha. Nobody else besides his family had those genes at the time. Unless Indra married his grandmother who also had the sharingan, then there was nobody on earth who Indra could marry and have kids with that were "100% Uchiha" as one might say. This fact alone means that Sasuke, Itachi, Fugaku, etc... are actually nowhere near 100% Uchiha as people think they are. Yet they still have all the benefits of being Uchihas.

It is for this reason that I don't believe that the clans absolutely have to do incest in order to keep the clan's power and it is why I don't automatically assume that a character's parents did incest as a lot of people do. What do you think?

Why are you telling me this? Sharingan is a kekkei genkai. That is how I was able to use my point about Indra.

I studied Asian history, that was a very common way of keeping the bloodline pure, especially for the main branches. Marrying outside the clan was only permitted in extreme cases, cases which would strengthen the status of the clan. So in effect, if Kishi sticks to Asian history, as he's tended to do, then incest was/is the most likely case.

Well that could be true. Look at Hinatas love for Naruto and shes a main head. I would guess however the Uchiha were more strict but they do have a passion for loved ones. Who knows.

Almost. She's part of the main branch and is heir, but she doesn't call the shots. When she does become head of the clan she would still have a council of elders, who by feudal law and custom, can overrule her decisions if she goes against clan tradition or does something not in the best interest of the clan. In the end, if she pursued her love for him and he shared her feelings, it would have to go through the Hyuga elders. Chances are she's already got an arranged marriage put into place, as this is generally how things were done in the clan system.

I think that devine genes are more powerfull than the common ones,and when they make kids,Uchiha genes just push of the genes of the other partner,and there you get Uchiha traits and powers.

He meant pure in that he's still young and not corrupted by their genetics like most of them were. That was the significance of Sasuke showing his Mangekyo, to show Hashirama he was wrong. His Mangekyo reflects the highest level of pain, or as Tobirama explained love, that a Uchiha could attain. That pain he experienced is why Sasuke didn't refer to himself as pure or a child.

Maybe they can marry outsiders but only in extreme special cases. I believe it's generally not allowed.

If there are many outsiders, the blood will get diluted. Recessive genes will be passed down through the many generations and can result in certain members not possessing the dominant trait.

It depends on how you define incest, because originally we all have a common ancestor. Not to mention the fact that it's all just human brain and it's stupid ideals, in truth you are just male and female. Like my clan is "Srivastava" and I can marry another "Srivastava" as far as she is not my relative for 3-4 generation back, above which people usually forget, like I ****ing dated my cousin for 6 months until we found out that we are long distance brother and sistor and the only good thing was that our relation didn't went as far as bed, beside that we did everything, though we still have hots for each other even now. I guess this is what they mean by SHIT HAPPENS.
