Well, Hashirama is out due to Mokuton not needing a terrain advantage....I won't say Kisame, either....As I believe as long as he has Samehada he can fight effectively anywhere(Kisame;s only bad matchup in reality is Gai, because of that damned Water Bubble he uses)....I'll go with Sannin/Minato/Itachi/Sasuke. Somewhere in between there would be a good matchup. Would put Naruto, but I only put Sasuke because he hasn't gotten his power-up yet.

Itachi was placed in this because Gaara has the perfect defense against both Tsukuyomi and Amaterasu. Sand Clones. He just hides in his gourd, pulls Itachi out of Susano'o, and it's a pretty easy match. He's shown the ability to block Amaterasu with his sand, as well.

In theory Gaara could face anyone and win considering full intel and the entire area surrounding them is a desert, but it all boils down to intelligence and the application of techniques. You can't just win with raw power, you have to use the right techniques at the right time.

jinton users can't beat him,he could easily stop them from forming jinton as there is sand everywhere,and there is no rock for their giant rock golem tech,not to mention that he can use the sand in the air to chase them as well.not sure abt kabuto,seeing that sand is an opaque object and can block light,while he could break out of sound gen like shika did,his hydrification is only water,not oil so gaara has no problem with that,i am pretty sure gaara's control of sand is larger than muki tensei's own. The rest i agree
