Kisame failed to capturing Killer B and Naruto and Kakashi fails all the time

Actually he defeated bee but didn't capture because backup was coming and was given a new mission to spy on them and get info which he did. He even killed himself to make sure his info got back and the enemy got none.

I feel like long term missions: itachi short term S rank missions Kisame asap help missions kakashi ( minus jesus naruto)

Depends on the job.

You need a paragon to save the day and defend the weak? Naruto, Hashirama, and Gaara are the ideal choices.
Need a double agent to sell his soul to gain intel and an upper hand from within? Itachi is your man.
Need a reliable soldier who will see his task through no matter the cost? Kisame, Zabuza, and Kakashi would be optimum.

Make sure enemy do reach hideout in time: check
Capture 8 tails: semi check ( had him beat beat was given new mission)
Spy and deliver info on enemy: check
Make sure enemy gets no info: check (kills self)

Doesn't get more reliable than that
