These aren't stick figures we're talking about. If the Artist has drawn them beautiful or with a feature that a particular is attracted to, then it's easy for the reader to associate/attract with that design. Not sure why it's so difficult to differentiate them. Of course you have your extremes where they actually would want to marry the anime character in RL but that's a bit different.
