Who is the Gokage?

ive been reading threads and discussions and i keep seeing people talking about the gokage,and i have no idea who that is

please explain or leave a link to an answer to it

Its Japanese which translate to 5 (Five) Kage. This words has been used by many since the Anime and Manga showing of the 5 Kage Meeting.
