Itachi is not really a strategical fighter. He has a great insight. People are confusing both things. I would say

- His insight to break apart Haku's technique.
- He out-smarted Orochimaru in forest of death.
- He used his cunning around his research on Snakes to take out Orochimaru.
- He strategically was one step ahead of Deidara.
- He cleverly encased his Sussano with Enton to beat A, as he lost his arm.
- He figured out Danzo's technique even under severe stress due to MS, as he figured out the best strategy: go at him hard and fast to take him out and force him to use all his eyes.

This are feats of a highly impressive ninja.
