Using common sense, what do you think that means? Itachi never got a chance to see Obito's mangekyou ability.. what so ever.. How can you analyze something or even prepare for what you've never seen?

Puppydog not to downplay Itachi's intellect, but him knowing the proper use of techniques of his clan is not a display of intelligence. Itachi having known all Uchiha history and jutsu, he simply turned that in his favor.

Also, let's not forget Itachi was well aware of Orochimaru's desires and jutsu. Having been aware of this, Itachi predicting that Kabuto possessed DSM after knowing this was what Orochimaru desired (Kabuto being an imitation) much thought wasn't required.

As far as that scan, if i remember correctly, Itachi corrected Kabuto. Itachi wasn't able to predict his movements, but knew what Kabuto desired, which was Sasuke.
