Who is smarter? Sasuke or Shikamaru?

question was who is smarter. that's all. shikamaru of course. this wasnt a question if who would win if two would fight. it could go either way. hek, i think sasuke would beat him with high diffuculty. but in terms of intelligence, and nothing else, shikamaru.

Shikamura by every definition of the word is smarter, if the both played shogi he would win, if they both played chess he would win, if the both played checkers he would win, he is a strategic machine.

He would solve every riddle first.

In a battle, where defeating the opponent means to find a weakness that can only be found by strategic assessment and observation of the situation he would win first.

Intelligence of his level is known around NU, he is from a clan famous for intelligence.

As for who would win in a fight, Sasuke probably dominates, that is because of Sasukes raw power.


Give both Sasuke and Shika two days prep time and intel, Sasuke would be a fool to fight him

All of the battles that you mentioned are based upon Sasukes KG, his eyes see things that most can't, intelligence is how he uses that, which yes he has shown, but no it is nowhere near Shikas level.

shikamaru is way smarter than sasuke. it's just that he always run out of chakra. that's all his weakness. he is weak compared to sasuke. but in terms of intelligence. really, its shikamaru.

Sasuke is able to quikly make an appropriate hypothesis in his plans all the while holding back while fighting to get the feel of his opponent's abilities and thinking pattern. Thats how Sasuke makes his plans.

Yeah Shikamaru needs to just sit down, meditate and think and might lose concentration if he's startled where Sasuke is more the "think while in action" guy. It's impressive, but Shikamaru is using his logical abilities in a very intense way which just fits with my definition of "smart".

i wouldn't count on it. sasuke has got much more IQ than shilimaru. although shikimaru's strategies and plans are very impressive to me i think sasuke's own is smarter than him.

If it was who was smarter in battle than the thread would be called "Who is smarter in battle" Sasuke isn't even that smart in battle.

Sasuke - sees it's earth with his sharingan, hurr durr lightning>earth, tries using lightning on the bombs (chidori nagashi), disables them. Anybody in that situation would have figured that out.


And please just stop everyone knows Shika is the smartest person in the series besides his dad. Sasuke's intelligence is so overrated, on a list of 10 of the most intelligent characters he would be around 8 or 9. Nowhere close to Shikamaru.

Are you joking me? have you seen Itachi in battle? He can analyse his opponents attacks and weaknesses and use that to win. At least his intellect is the same as Shikaku

uh no... Shikaku is part of the reason the Shinobi had good strategies. Itachi is what you call a battle smartass. He really hasn't shown any brains in a battle either.. If you look at Kabuto one.. he just used Izanagi. Even Kabuto> Itachi in smartness

He used Izanami, my friend. I believe, in over all intelligence: Shikamaru takes the cake.
