Obito is a better grand schemer for sure, probably better than Itachi. In combat and raw intelligence though I got to give it to Kakashi. Madara taught Obito a lot of things while Kakashi is just born smart

Kakashi's the quicker shinobi and naturally more talented. Obito's knowledge can only be compared to Madara, Orochimaru, Kabuto, and possibly Tsunade (Excluding the Sage and Kaguya, as we don't know the full extent of their knowledge).

It's difficult to say who is 'smarter', generally. As they have different ways of going about things and different learning methods. One had the opportunity to learn Madara's past and 'absorb' his knowledge, or some of it. The other was naturally gifted.

during the whole war arc, obito didn't want to kill kakashi, he just wanted to subdue him, if he really wanted kakashi dead....he'd be dead.

OT: both have different type of intelligence i'd say, Obito is a better long term planner(with more knowledge) but can also come up with sudden counter strategies as we saw him vs danzo's guards. Kakashi on the other hand is a better analyst of the situation at hand.

Let's just say that if Obito had Kakashi's intelligence, he would have been able to sense the insincerity in Old Madara's words and philosophies, and he would have never become a puppet.

Switching both has nothing to do with intelligence...
Obito is one of the most haxed character, near unlimited chakra reserve, has zetsu with him and mokuton and kamui spam with his near unlimitted chakra wich make him almost untouchable.It has nothing to do with intelligence.

You forgot that in almost all Kakashi's fights, Kakashi had always somoene to babysitting during the manga which cost or almost cost his life.

The manga clearly show that Kakashi is smarter than Obito, he outsmarted him multiples time during battle even with kamui.
