Itachi beats Minato in everything except maybe book smart. Itachi was young when he went rogue so he didn't have time to fully go to school and everything. He's more street smart.

Minato actually didn't, from start yes he thought taht bc he control Kyuubi,but after nop he called Obito Masked man.... in Itachi's case he said Tobi was Pathetic shell of Madara which was true...

OP: they're around the same level. Both were considered geniuses by respectd shinobis. If I had to pick one it would be Itachi.

IMO, Itachi is intelligent.He can use the knowledge he knows to provide insight in the oppoents psyche, A measurement of intelligence allows him to adapt to new info on the fly, proving counters and tactics. I measure of ones intelligence allows then to adapt to new concepts quickly, which he dies in the fly.

Minato is more knoledgeble in the he can uzilize that knowledge to come o up with appropriar countes. BUT HE LACK intelligence IN HIS ONE DIMENTIONal fighting style/
