Obito is merely a combination of Madara and Nagato; following Madara's ideals and eyes and using Nagato's God-like abilities. I guess those who would choose Obito would have to choose between Madara and Nagato.

Lol, it was in fact Madara who actually gave Nagato the 'golden spoon in his mouth.' Without Madara's eyes, he would not have been able to do anything. While Madara was alive, he was the first to awaken both the Mangekyo and Eternal Mangekyo sharingans. He became the leader of the Uchiha and became a fair challenge against Hashirama, the leader of the opposing Senju Clan.

Madara also discovered secret involving Rikudo Sennin and the Jubi and from that day on, carried the great ideal of reviving the Jubi and the goal of becoming it's jinchuriki. He then passed it on to Obito, who was a weak Uchiha following the 'Will of Fire' until Madara showed him what Pain is like. Madara caused Obito to become strong as Itachi and then eventually surpassing him. Along with that he helped to give an Uzumaki child a form of power that he would benefit from if used well enough.
