The thing is there is no char or char dev for rin in the whole flasback thing.She is just typical plot device without any char but on top of dat she is Cancer to Obito's char who calls the world,Wants peace for everyone and is a failed version of Naruto.
Her appearance[even her name] and the specific moments they happen makes it looks like whatever obito said was just load of BS and he is just freindzoned by her and did everything only becoz of her,

she did have a little development, even if it was very little but she had, she was in love with kakashi, told kakashi, kakashi turned her down becuase he didnt deserve her, she got over it, her goal was to protect and watch over her friends, when she was kidnapped she realized she was a treat to the leaf and her friends, so she decided to take herself down in order to protect her friends, she had very little character development but never regressed multiple times to the same status just like sakura.

As for saying obito did all what he did just becuase a crush died is not correct, obito was just ike naruto, he was an orphan and just the same as naruto, and rin was the very first person who showed affection towards obito, making her the most important person to obito, true obito was in love with her but there´s so much more into it, rin ws like family to obito, let´s say you are an orphan and spend your whole childhood alone then you get adopted by a new family and you truly love and care for that family, then after a couple of years that family is killed and your left alone, wouldnt that be cruel?, to be born not having anything to then have a family a couple of years to then lose it again becuase of the hatred of this world, that´s what happened to obito and that´s what rin means to obito

Throw Rin out of his character and then he has no reason to begin with. Rin's death is what motivated Obito to embrace Madara's ideals and see the world as Hell. How would taking Rin out be perfect? If anything, that would hurt Obito's character because then he would just look like some guy who was just trying to take over the world and who didn't really care about peace.

Madara is to Izuna
Sasuke is to Itachi
Nagato is to Yahiko
Orochimaru is to his parents
Kabuto is to his foster mother
Obito is to Rin

Do you get the analogies I am making here? Taking Rin out of Obito's character is like taking Izuna away from Madara or taking Itachi and the Uchiha clan away from Sasuke. With these influences in their lives, you have people who aren't really evil, but have radical ideas for peace.

What do you have without these influences? Murderers! That is all.

Doesn't matter who saved more or who. Sakura has done more while still doing more to make her character dis-likable. It's like as soon as she does something good, she does something/something happens to her equally as bad.

At least the only thing Rin is known for is a martyr.
