The U.S. is China's top buyer. Without the U.S., China loses their biggest and most crucial source of revenue. After the European's proved unable to be good sources of revenue, China became dependent on the U.S. Losing America would set their economy back big time.

Basically, the U.S. keeps the Chinese market flowing.

America's military is superior.
Better trained. Better equipped. Vastly superior naval and air assets. That means China can't get to America to attack us. So about 1.5 million soldiers and marines have the fun job of spear heading an invasion of a country with a billion people and about 3 million soldiers.
End result: We bomb the shit out of them until they agree to a truce.

China has us economically. Our Federal Reserve and the banking industry are running this country into the ground and most people are too ignorant to understand how. Our banks are even selling the loans that Americans owe them to Chinese investors so they automatically make a profit and the Chinese take all the risk.

OT: I'm not sure how other countries recruit their men, but U.S pretty much starts their program from Grade 7. (Middle school, maybe even younger on school that have K to 12th grade)
