This is not a versus thread. And Itachi is more versatile even being a genius that at age 7 was said by 3rd Hokage to think like an Hokage.

Itachi. Kishi's gave KCM to Minato because his hirashin jutsu was not nearly enough to be compared with Hashirama and Tobirama.

Itachi is better as a character because he had lot more screen time compared to minato and was alive for the most part.

Minato is cooler in my opinion, and although he might not fair the best in 1v1 against some post-Pein Arc top tiers, he'd still be a great tracker/assassin shinobi. And of course, he was the 4th KG.
Minato would've probaby been the most deadly shinobi if his TP wasn't restricrted, but then again that would've been too broken...

Itachi should have stayed the rogue criminal he originally was in Part 1. Kishi tried too hard to turn him around into this misunderstood saint.

On the contrary, Minato was presented to be far more perfect. He seemed like a good "pretty" boy all throughout life. Kishi never highlighted his flaws & only did so to his strengths.

Itachi got depth, he explained his actions & admitted his mistakes & flaws. Lived in the shadows & made countless sacrifices.

In a pure character analysis Itachi takes this by far.

Itachi has a much more deeper character development. His character is deeper than anyone else. What Itachi did to protect Konoha is far better than what Minato, or anyone else in this matter, has done. He subjected himself to torture his entire life for the sake of peace.
