In all honesty, I wouldn't put him as S-Class. However, he is very cool. He's my 2nd or 3rd favorite out of the K11.

Fact is that no S-rank Shinobi would lose to a Part 1 Kakashi who had nothing but base Sharingan and 3 Chidori's.

He was the demon of the hidden Mist and a member of the 7 swordsman U_U the most wanted, ofc he was an S Rank. Kakashi just happen to kill an S rank ninja, its something you expect from guys like Kakashi. Might Guy killed another i.e. Kisame U_U

I would not consider him S Class, at least not yet.
We need more screen time to really decide on his "ranking" based on his strength.

For those who note that he is a fodder, he isn't compared to the characters Kishi outcasted. Hopefully TenTen shows up with something...
Naruto is Kishi's first successful manga and it involves various characters. It takes a lot for him to go through all of them and develop each character. Which is why he probably lacked some and suddenly gave everyone a power up in the recent chapter.

against akatsuki:

1. Loss vs deidara: as long as shino touches deidara is dead...the only problem is deidara is flying and that one shot "touch jutsu" will be hard for shino to do...

2. Loss vs sasori: too many attacks and shino isn't fast enough to dodge everything...

3. Loss vs tobi: can't hit what you can't touch

4. Loss vs Nagato: simply too powerful for him

5. 90% Win vs hidan: close range fighter and touchable: couldn't care less even if he's immortal, bugs will eat him alive...

6. 40% High diff win vs kakuzu: 5 hearts wouldn't save him from the one touch kill...

7. 40% High diff Win vs kisame: As long as he can fight in closer range that would be good as shino doesn't need to use much chakra for the bugs...

8. 20% High diff win vs itachi: Itachi is a medium to close range fighter...shino covers all distances + he has chakra sucking bugs...considering itachi has low stamina shino has a slight chance of winning...If he can prevent himself from being amaterasu'd then he's safe...he doesn't even need to look to itachi's eye to fight...all he has to do is touch him, and win...itachi is touchable anyway, like what kakashi did in their second fight...

9. 10% High diff win vs konan: very slight chance only.

10. Win vs all short range type ninjas...specially the taijutsu types...they're dead from the one touch kill...

with this, we can summarize that he's at least an A rank ninja, close to S...
