Last time I checked, Itachi put Kakashi in the hospital for days.

Nope. Last time I checked, Itachi was tricked by Kakashi.

Last time I checked Itachi took control of a dead person and then put Naruto under a genjutsu and the reason Kakashi tricked him is because Kakashi fell under Itachi's genjutsu before and needed to use teamwork.

The second part of your sentence does not make ANY sense at all. Kakashi outsmarted and immobilized Itachi on his own, don't argue here.

It was 4 on 1 so trying to use that battle is pointless.

Umm... nope. It was pretty much Kakashi VS Itachi. Even a name of the chapter says so. Chiyo and Sakura didn't participate at all and Naruto only hit Itachi (immobilized by Kakashi) with a Rasengan. Kakashi could've used Raikiri here instead, but he had to conserve chakra - this was the middle of a dangerous mission.

Itachi saved an entire village by killing the Uchiha clan, most of the guys had a sharingan so you have to imagine that it was a tough battle and he did it in a few hours before Sasuke noticed anything.

Another fail. Tobi helped Itachi kill the clan. Sasuke himself later stated that even someone like Itachi wouldn't be able to do it and Itachi confirmed it.

Itachi planned his death years in advance. He nearly tricked and killed Tobi while he was dead.

To quote Tobi himself, Itachi's plan was a fail. The proof for this is... oh, that's right. The fact that Kakashi and Guy are fighting Obito right now.

Itachi got Tobi to spare the village. Itachi got the Hokage to spare Sasuke. Itachi was able to undo Kabuto's mind control.

Yeah, he did. No one ever said Itachi didn't do anything good.

He saved Naruto and Bee from Nagato.

And Kakashi saved Naruto from Obito.
And if you really want to use this argument more, then here:
1) Obito is stronger than Nagato
2) Itachi who saved Naruto was Edo. You know, being immortal and having unlimited chakra might make a difference.

At the end of the day Itachi's analysis feats outclass Kakashi.

No. Kakashi's feats are better, one thing. It's Kakashi that was stated to be the best one when it comes to analysis, second thing.

I gotta say itachi didnt plan to break edo tensei it just happened when he was fighting naruto. The crow came out and used KA. Secondly kakashi got caught in tsukuyomi without knowledge of it. He knew that the sharingan can cast genjutsu by looking into the users eyes and its hard for him to break out of an ms genjutsu without the uchiha body. Sasuke was also caught in tsukuyomi with knowledge about it but was able escape.

I'd go with itachi.kakashi analyses the obvious often 1st having to use lightning clones then formulating a direct plan which means he's plans are based on the obvious logic.I still think it took a good while for him to figure out the conection between kamui and other dimension.itachi seems somehow able to formulate surprising indirect and long term strategy even if he may be surprised by the target.the only hickup itachi made was sasuke

That's a tough one, they're both brilliant. For now, just going to say kakashi since we've seen him in more scenarios where strict analysis was required. I can't think of any for itachi besides preventing nagato's planetary devastation. Oh well, who knows?

manga chapter 550, page 8 says.
" I layered a new genjutsu on top of the enemy jutsu. "
" I rigged that crow ... so that it would show itself, reacting to my mangekyo sharingan. Just in case... "

They are both great in analysing things, Kakashi figured out that hes using the same dimension with his Kamui that Tobi (Obito) does. Itachi figured the weakness of Nagatos planetary devastation in just a few seconds out. Just 2 examples but overall I see them equal.

Intelligence? Well also equal if you ask me, Itachi maybe is slightly better because he planed his life till his death years before but just maybe. Who says that Kakashi couldnt do to the same?

Knowledge about jutsu & history? Hands down, this one goes to Itachi. Knowing about EMS, Rinnegan, Izanagi + Izanami, Yata Mirror and Totsuka Sword (2 legendary Items which only very few people know about), Madara and Izuna (that they used to fight, that Madara stole Izunas eyes etc.) he just knows alot about Uchiha history.
Kakashi isnt a Senju or Uchiha so he cant have that kind of background info so its not his fault, Itachi just got the advantage here.

Overall I see Itachi slightly above Kakashi.

Itachi is my favorite character but... Itachis jutsus and skills are much stronger than kakashis ..so
kakashis have to think much more for a plan than itachi... Lets say that skills,jutsus,etc are tools to achieve a goal. In other words Itachi has more and better tools than kakashi... So for itachi is much easier to come up with a succesfull strategy... That is something that you ppl have to understand before you go into a choise... So i think if kakashi and itachi can solve a problem with the same result then kakashi is the winner... I think i explained it good...

Funny how Itachi fanboy's think he's the best at all lol.This thread is about intelligece,not who's stronger.

First off, Kakashi has more experience than Itachi. Second, I'm talking about intelligence/strategies/tactics, and nothing more.


1. He didn't know as much about snakes as Sasuke did
2. He didn't know about Kabuto's hydrification technique
3. He didn't know about hakugeki
4. He (and Sasuke) failed with their combo/surprise attack
5. He didn't know about muki-tensei
6. He didn't know about the stick webs
7. He didn't know about the sound genjutsu

But this isn't really a contest about knowing stuff. This is more a contest about learning on the fly and creating successful counters. And do you know what Itachi's counter to each of these was?

1. nothing (none needed)
2. nothing
3. susanoo
4. can't make strategy - use izanagi
5. susanoo
6. amaterasu
7. Sasuke-Itachi counter-genjutsu

Of all these, only the last one was even moderately impressive as far as strategy and analysis goes

Some people said that it's very rare to see him wrong...

3. Wrong about the whole Uchiha genocide thing
4. Wrong about Madara
5. Failed to stop a war (the whole reason he killed his family)
6. Failed to stop Tobi from getting to Sasuke
7. Failed to get Sasuke to go back to Konoha (a la kotoamatsukami)
8. Failed to stop Madara (by ending edo tensei)


let's look at some of his others

1. Against Kurenai, Asuma, and Kakashi - no real strategy in this fight (except the kunai distraction).
2. Ran from Jiraiya - no strategy, and did not dominate
3. Rematch with Kakashi and Naruto - did not dominate, and got outsmarted
4. Against Sasuke (crow clone) - no strategy, and got dominated
5. Against Naruto (crow clone) - dominated, and used strategy (a la kotoamatsukami)
6. Against Sasuke - did not dominate, and not much strategy (except maybe expending Sasuke's chakra)
7. Against Bee and Naruto - sort of dominated, but no strategy
8. Against Nagato - no one really dominated, showed a bit of strategy (destroying CT)
9. Against Kabuto - got dominated, showed almost no strategy (except escaping genjutsu)

Outside of battle, he has wisdom on a lot of the Narutoverse. But inside battle, he's not nearly the tactician that Kakashi is.





Even a moderate strategy would put Kakashi on par with Itachi (moderate) level of battle strategies




1. Kakashi vs Naru/Saku/Sasu - kawarimi on the clone instead of a chunk of wood (I still wonder why no one else does this). Setting Naruto up with a bell trap. Using the trapped Naruto as a fake distraction to lure Sasuke out. Not much, but it's a start

2. Kakashi vs Demon Brothers - Kakashi noted the water puddle and used that catch them off-guard. Again, not much, but it's already setting him up beyond Itachi's own feats. He also realized the brothers utilized poison

3. Kakashi vs Zabuza (first) - Seeing the rabbit and realizing it was for kawarimi - meaning shinobi. This next one is just typical Kakashi, but Zabuza notes it to be particularly impressive - when Kakashi made the water clone and used it to talk to Sasuke, giving it the appearance that it was the real Kakashi. Realizing that Haku was an impostor

4. Kakashi vs Zabuza (rematch) - just to keep this one short, Kakashi formed a strategy at the very beginning. He allowed Zabuza to hit him twice so that he could use his own blood to locate Zabuza even in the mist - smarter than just about anything Itachi showed

5. Kakashi vs Itachi (first) - Showed off his analytic skills. Even without being able to read Itachi's hand seals, he was able to realize the shuriken were just distractions, and react accordingly. He was also able to feint with his own clone while getting Kurenai away from Itachi's. He also showed his knowledge of the MS, and tsukuyomi (neither of which he had at the time). Again, few little things, but they sure are adding up against Itachi

6. Kakashi vs Itachi (rematch) - as already said, outsmarted Itachi

7. Kakashi vs Deidara - I don't really remember this fight, but I don't think there was any strategy in it

8. Kakashi vs Kakuzu - combination strategy with Shikamaru to use Hidan to kill Kakuzu. Also analyzed Kakuzu to realize the use of his "heart" system

9. Kakashi vs Pein - was able to figure out the mechanics and even time period of Deva Path's abilities. Created a strategy to take down Deva 2 times ,the frist 1 after using raiton kage bunshin ( deva couln't use shinrei because of the 5s and asura was apralysed, then with Choji and Choza but asura interrupted.

10. Kakashi vs Swordsmen - analyzed until he got a handle on their abilities. Made strategy to seal Zabuza

11. Kakashi vs Jinchuuriki - combined with Naruto, and Gai, formed strategy to counter all the path abilities

12. Kakashi vs Tobi - figured out S/T Migration


Kakashi's intel > Itachi's intel.

This pretty much is what i think. Itachi as a ninja his better than kakashi and if you disagre just read the manga until you get it but when it comes to analysis i think kakashi is superior overall. But why do i say that? Well kakashi as proven a lot of times that is analysis about other ninjas justus is far superior to itachi, and the reason to why i say that is because of what it's on the first quote. On the other hand itachi showed that when it comes to analysis other persons personalities and what they will do based on that no one can keep up with him. However in kakashi first battle vs zabuza he was able to outsmart him by putting the thought that sharingan could read his mind and after that zabuza even asks kakashi if he can read the future. So for me analysis skills his being able to read ones jutsus and ones next action based on is personality. For me the one that is better on those two is kakshi with itachi really really close.

Other things that are offtopic but i found relevant to share my view.

Itachi is really good in long term plans but that's not so outstanding with the skill he has. I mean is pretty easy for him to take out anyone that gets in is way. Just like in the battle vs sasuke it was obvious that he wanted to get him out of chakra so orochimaru cool emerge and been sealed by him. He didn't plan everything that sasuke would make against him, he just went with the fool while just trying to run out of chakra because that was the other part of his plan. When he killed the uchiha he knew that sasuke would be all alone and with the grudge of the village he would be a easy target. That's why he tried his best to make sasuke hate him and do everything he could to kill him, because that way he would be powerfull and feared by most of the ninja world and he made sure he would only fight him when he was in the "point". That's why he said "come to fight me when you have the same eyes has me" after killing the entire clan. He also died at sasuke hands because he wanted sasuke to be a hero to konoha. He didn't plan sasuke to leave konoha and get along with orochimaru just to be able to kill him, that would be retarded imo but anyways it proves that is analysis are perfect like many seen to think. Before his fight with sasuke he also realized that things could not get as he wanted so he "gave" the crow with shisui eye to naruto because he knew that sasuke could implanted his eyes and be manipulated by tobi against konoha. But he didn't want that things whent so far so when he was about to die he gave his eyes abilities to sasuke (i don't remenber this well but for the point i am trying to make things are acording to manga) and it was also programed to use amaterasu when in contact with tobi eyes. Oh and when he came back he said to sasuke that the way that he dealt with the uchiha situation was not good at all.


Itachi never realised that tobi was not madara (even kakashi implied that he wasn't sure about that) and he sure didn't understant how his jutsu worked because when he came back as a edo he could give that information to naruto and he sure spend alot of time with tobi. Itachi could for sure knew how nagato path worked even if they didn't team up we could still do it, konan was able to understand tobi s/t eye jutsu and not teaming up with him was not a trouble.

I think i summed up everything i saw on this thread and didn't stand correct.
