If I accidentally killed my own mother when I was born, my own father trying to kill me and hiring anbu members to assassinate me, being shunned by my own village, and being treated like a monster because I had a tailed beast sealed inside me, you better believe that I would turn evil.

So yeah, Gaara had the best reason to be 'evil.'

All(except obito) have good reasons, but between Itachi, Sasuke and gaara I'd say Sasuke, because he lost his clan along with his brother making sure telling him in the face what a failure he was and he(itachi) was evil and all that, Gaara loses here.

Sasuke-mah fakas expecting me to go back to the village that's Uchiha racist and also do missions and work for the same people responsible for my clan's massacre and my brother's pain and apparently making me believe he's the one responsible for all that crap, sure why not might aswell have a drink and chill with danzo.

Itachi-steal my best friend's eyes and preventing him from making peace without killing the Uchiha, I'm cool with that.

Gaara-No love, no respect and no equality.

Kakashi had a reason but honestly, it's just not in his personality. He had nothing to fight for or try achieve, he was a little bit of a defeatist pathetic victim type but through it all remained a badass.

Jiraiya had many reasons not to be the smiling goofball he was. Guy fought through wars, was brought up thinking he was the son of prophecy and lost a lot of stuff too.

But ultimately Naruto not being a villain is the luckiest thing in the series. The way they treated this kid who had a demon fox whispering in his ear- the Leaf got SO lucky they picked the right kid to burden it with. Maybe...the only person who could've come through that smiling.

Watching your whole clan and your parents being brutally murdered by your own brother? Sasuke had the most reasons to become evil.
Then Itachi, because he had to do it. Madara comes in third, and then Gaara.
