Has anyone else thought, what is the purpose of Tobi having the Rinnengan? He hasn't shown any sign of using it whatso ever. Does he have it there just to look cool or what? And if so, why not just replace it with one of his millions of sharingans?

well he has for for 1 of two reasons

1. is he has it to control the juubi because you probley need ms/ems and rinnegan or some sht like that

2. or he needs it to control the gedo mazu so he can bring back the juubi

thats my theory anyway

Obito has the Rinnegan to control his 6 paths and the gedo mazo. I do not think Obito has enough practice though to be able to use much more then that as of yet.

I would assume that the rinnegan works similar to the sharingan, as in each eye possesses different powers......he has only 1 eye and we've seen him use the human path, gedo mazo, six paths of pain, and possibly outer path to revive the dead?....perhaps that's all he can do with one eye?
