How do you know they'll even have a battle? All Shanks said was find me once you've become a strong pirate not I'll judge if you've become strong enough. A fight is expected by fans but nothing has said they definitely will fight.

Yeah but that's an in character statement from a character that's not a definitive thing from the author. Iirc didn't he make that claim when WB was alive? And he didn't do anything to him so already it's proven false. Plus Luffy's not really the most reliable when it comes to what he says coming true, he said he wanted 10 crew mates before setting sail on the GL but he left with less than 10.

SO you simply discard the only statement that we have to confirm that luffy is targeting the yonkos just because in some cases luffy had to go back in his words? You gave one example of which his words turned out to be false so should I really come with another ten to prove that in majority of time he is right?

Luffy said that in his conversation with Law at Punk Hazard.. (after time skip... after WB's death... 4 Yonko being Shanks, BM, BB, Kaido)

BUT I for one, don't want to believe that he meant he would fight Shanks.. maybe the others, yeah... but I'm hoping that with his statement, he just meant that he would become stronger than Shanks, and wouldn't have to serve under him.. but idk what Oda has in store for us tbh.. the story could completely surprise us at the end. Lol


PLUS: I, personally, would love to see the Viz translation of that exact scan. Cause if I remember correctly, on the scan we're all familiar with, Luffy says something like "I plan on beating all 4 of them" BUT he was only holding up 3 fingers .... so it really makes me wonder..

EDIT: in the anime he says "as long as Shanks is not the first one to fight.. I have no problem.. because I plan to beat all 4 of the emperors"... so damn... I really don't know what is going on in Luffy's mind when it comes to Shanks right now..

Ok buddy keep believing what you wish. Also it's as you said Luffy is targeting all 4 Yonkou, that's not a definitive statement from the author there will be a fight that's the author having a character make a statement in story that is in character with said character's personality(whew too many uses of the word character) Luffy saying it isn't a declaration by the author that is something based on your previous replies that you are not separating, you are acting as if because a character said it(albeit the main character) then it's unavoidable fact when it's nothing more than a character expressing a desire. IF Oda does have it happen then it happens but Luffy's statement is not proof it will.

Yeah I see what you mean.. and I agree.

Luffy may have said that when he talked to Law.. thinking "if Shanks says I have to serve under him, I'll just fight him so I can stay my own captain and be free." but later on in the story Luffy can meet Shanks, and Shanks can be cool as f*ck like "nah man, I would never make you do that.. you are indeed a powerful/strong pirate. I'm glad to see you. Keep doing what you're doing." Or w/e.. and Luffy then just laughs and they all throw a banquet.. or shit God forbid Shanks dies before Luffy ever gets to see him again! (Which is something I REALLY don't want to happen, but I'm just giving an example on how what you said was right about them bit having to fight if Oda doesn't want it.)

Shiiit dude.. You never know.. Mihawk ended up training Zoro.. they might have a good relationship by the E.O.S. and they may not fight at all.. Or if they do, it might be a friendly spar.. or Mihawk can be killed by someone else, and then Zoro kills that character E.O.S. thus still succeeding in his goal, but without actually defeating Mihawk personally.

Bottom line is, nothing is for certain.. and ANYTHING can happen.

I heard another good theory. Shiryu will eat Jozu's DF and Zoro will cut diamond.
U remember Mihawk was unable to cut Jozu at MF. This way Zoro can surpass Mihawk

3rd Admiral is swordsman & he kills Mihawk & take his sword & let's say in 2nd Marineford arc Zoro defeat that guy.

As I said buddy, keep believing what you choose to. You're clearly missing the point though so I'll try one last time, an author having a character declare their desire doesn't mean the author will follow through with the action. You're going on as if it is a guaranteed 100% unavoidable fact the fight will happen simply because a character within the story expressed his desire for it to happen. That's simply not true and a bad example of proof. What I want or think may happen are irrelevant to the point being made.

I honestly love the idea of Shiliew stealing Jozu's DF and then Zoro "cutting Diamond" and beating him!

It will just be so epic!!
