I think it spawned after people misinterpreted that cutscene from the video game where Madara predicted Hashirama's shuriken's path, and people thought he had made time to go backwards.

I was in-denial he was Obito because it did not make sense since he was crushed by a boulder. I always thought he was Izuna or Kagami. At one point, I really thought he was Madara.

Then figured out it was obito, since they drop some pretty obvious hints before his reveal.

I always though it was Obito but it was soo obvious i wasnt expecting it to actually be true.

I was always on the Obito train even though people said it was too stupid to be true. Hints were just too obvious and people forget this series is meant for kids.

Although, some of the theories were kinda cool. I remember one where somebody proposed that Tobi was actually a missing Uzumaki member because of his spiral mask and one about it being Naruto's dad. Theory-crafters are a thing of the past, though.

Obito was the only one who really made sense. every time his mask started to come off, we only saw the right side of his face, which was all wrinkly. if we had seen just the top of his partly ruined face it would have been obvious. plus we only saw him using one eye, despite having two, and his teleporting was fairly similar in appearance to kakakshis kamui. and the name thing.

Plus, all the evidence against him could easily be ignored and thrown back at other people in the way "Alright, so how did Kagami/Shisui/Izuna survive?"

I actually thought Tobi was Senju Tobirama simply because I didn't buy him losing to a bunch of Cloud Ninjas.

That, and I felt Obito fitted the part as well, but was more inclined towards Tobirama. To this day, I still believe Tobirama would have made a better fit even up until the Pain Arc.

Obito being Tobi meant that Kishi had to give his eyes a MS ability while his eyes were still 3T. He used Kamui to phase through the Earth, but only unlocked MS days (or months) later when he saw Rin die.

I was so confident he was Obito until I searched it up (I was watching the anime at the time) and all these "intellectuals" kept laughing at the "Obito theories", and kept posting that scan with Tobi saying he was Madara.
