Who deserved to be the main villain of this arc more?

He does like that power, but his has more ties to the characters so it would be more significant.

Remember Obito was responsible for the nine tails attack, the Uchiha massacre and was also regarded as a hero (well by Kakashi at least)

I know he was responsible for the nine tails being seales in Naruto, that is major. But this incident fell into the shadows throughout the series. We never worries about the man in the mask into late into the series and this attack (infamous) but was irrelevant for some time. I wouldn't say he was responsible for the massacre, that was Danzo mostly.

But i won't ignore his influence, I'm just looking at the broader picture. The mask man was the highlight until Madara returned, they're both sharing these responsibilities, so i can't pick one over the other.

He's been the enemy of naruto's sensei & killed naruto's parents. He even manipulated a fellow pupil of jirayia into becoming evil & to top it all off, he turned sasuke into a criminal.

Kishi has even hinted at obito becoming the main antagonist since part 1 (kakashi gaiden).....

This is just Madara's "plan" and that's honestly just about it. Obito was clearly altering Madara's plan aswell, he clearly didn't want to revive him at all.

Obito has been from the start, screwing over his teacher, screwing with Naruto's life, forming Akautski, becoming the mastermind behind the whole Tailed Beast capture project, trolling the whole world into thinking he's Madara, manipulating Nagato, screwing with Sasuke's head and more.

Madara's just some OP guy that hasn't even been here that long that has a boner over Hashirama.

Yes but Obito has different and more interesting intentions for the Moon Eye Plan. All Madara wants it for is to be all powerful and evil and mwahahaha textbook bad guy whereas Obito genuinely believes it is what the ninja world needs and has emotional attachments to it. Obito went and did most of the work for it and has even changed huge parts of the plan, he changed it- Madara being reanimated was a pure coincidence- that failed old man had his chance.

Madara only led obito down his evil path, obito made the entire series what it is, without him then the series would have no akatsuki, no naruto with kurama's chakra, no war, the curse of hatred would still be continuing, sasuke would have no MS...I can go on forever...

Obito's influence has made the manga what it is, his identity was one of the biggest secrets in anime history, his character has had some of the best development, comparable to naruto & sasuke themselves, & they're the main characters.

Madara literally popped out of nowhere & trolled obito as per plot, the only development we get from madara is that he goes berzerk over hashi's wood. He barely even cares about the plan, he wanted to fight hashi before becoming the juubi's jinchuuriki. Madara's boring "world domination" plot combined with his excessive drooling over hashi's wood has made him a villain not deserving of the title "main antagonist"...

He's an insane powerhouse obsessed with proving his superiority to the shinobi world, Hashirama in specific. He has ties to everybody, and can easily connect to Sasuke, and possibly Naruto.

Plus if there's only 1 villain that makes it easier to focus on instead of leaving a cliffhanger everytime a fight starts like with Kakashi and Obito.

Naruto isn't Jiraya's pawn, and its common for a person to adopt the ideals of the teacher, haven't you ever seen Star Wars.

Obito is like Darth Vader while Madara is like the Emperor, Darth Vader screwed Luke over throughout the series but in the end the Emperor who created Darth Vader was the true evil.

Same here, Obito may have screwed Naruto but Madara is the true evil.
