That is possible. Byakugan user being the taijutsu type plus their ability to see chakra points inventing the technique as a last resort would make the most sense imo. Good point.

I think it was meant to be their version of Sage Mode, Uchiha get chakra boost from their eyes, Senju get chakra boost from NE, Gates would've been their own way to boost their power.

Who said it had to be from either of the descendants. They had many other clans that branched out & learned new techniques. (All those disciples of those who lived on after Indra & Ashura) Perhaps it was an unknown guy in a clan we have no ideal about who created that tech. All these tech are not just Otsutsuki,Uchiha,Uzumaki,Senju,Hyuuga. There is an entire NV out there with folks of all kinds of lineages who could've easily came up with the 8 gates.

Well Tobirama did invent the Edo tensei, so there is every possibility that someone like Tobirama invented the 8 Gates as a forbidden last resort sacrificial technique. Indra's descendants are very unlikely to develop it considering their clan mainly specialized with doujutsu and ninjutsu.

I don't think Tobirama created this jutsu otherwise why would Hashirama be leading the clan? Unless some senju created it like a decade ago and it was Ashura incarnate nuumber #39. Then it's possible.

I already posted the scan, it involves controlling the chakra pathway system which Hyuga have best control over and ability to understand how it works with their Byakugan.

Who knows, perhaps Ashura side since it seems more body related than eyes and senju were known for having a large range of skills or jutsu. Although considering how no senju ever used gates or anything similar, I believe it is not related to either senju or uchiha.
