When he used it on Naruto, he only pointed his finger and sucked Naruto into a Genjutsu. This is why Itachi is the best at Genjutsu, cause just about anything he does can trap you in one.

But I don't understand the question of this thread. Itachi may be able to trap you in a genjutsu easily, buts its common knowledge at this point that anyone with some sort of method of disrupting their chakra (having a teammate, having a bijuu, having a sharingan, etc) can escape fairly quickly. I don't think its been shown before if Orochimaru can disrupt his chakra solo, so thats probably the case here.

It truly is a broken Jutsu. Not only because of the fact that so far it hasn't been shown to require anything more than Itachi pointing his finger at the opponent, but also because in most scenario's, the opponent won't even be aware of the fact that he's in a Genjutsu before he gets hit by Itachi.
