who can beat itachi??

Take away Hashirama, Naruto, Sasuke, and Gaara and you have a correct answer.
Hashirama gets beat. Why? Because he has no defense against Itachi's genjutsu, nor does he have anything to defend against Amaterasu. Mokuton is too slow and burns easily.
Naruto - until the fox is a partner with him, like it is with Bee, he is vulnerable to genjutsu as that is his and Jiraiya's biggest weakness.
Gaara - Genjutsu again, and Itachi's Susanoo has the Yata mirror and without Onoki there to help him Gaara can do nothing against it.
Sasuke - of the ones you listed he is actually the most likely to beat him because his sharingan and blood relation to Itachi will help him the most against genjutsu. However his Susanoo is far weaker than Itachi's and that is what I think it will come down to. Also he is slower than Itachi and not as intelligent.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH GAARA? HAHAHAHAHAHAH! Thanks mate, got a good hard laugh from that!
The only two characters that would CRUSH Itachi are the following:
1. SO6P
2. Madara Uchiha
The following two might also be able to defeat Itachi, can't say for sure because we don't know how strong they are:
3. Minato
4. EMS Sasuke

Gaara defeating Itachi? lol and people claim Itachi isn't the most underrated character xd
Gaara fights long range and all Itachi's known genjutsu are short range including Tsukuyomi
Gaara's sand was fast enough to block Amaterasu at the Five Kage Summit.
Gaara can bring up enough sand to stop Yasaka's magatama and can dodge Totsuka when riding his sand(fast enough to block Amaterasu)
He can pull Itachi out of Susanoo like he did Madara and crush him with sand.
When did Gaara pull out Madara out of his Susanoo and crush him with sand? Does Madara's Susanoo have the Yata mirror? Are you saying Itachi can't close the distance vs Gaara?
Itachi has water affinity as his second nature chakra, he can turn Gaara's sand in to mud...
Gaara doesn't even have 1% chance to beat Itachi, sorry.
Hashirama (like Yamato) can bring out Wood from his body so he can use that to remove Amaterasu from his body if he's hit
he can block Totsuka and Yasaka Magatama with large wood techs which can even come from his body
Hashirama's wood release is all ranges and all Itachi's known genjutsu are short range so he wont be caught in it if he keeps a good distance.
He can crush Itachi with wood release that can grow from underneath his susanoo, like I said, it is all ranges.
When Kakashi faced Itachi the second time we learned something people seem to have forgotten-GENJUTSU DOESNT WORK ON SHADOW CLONES. Itachi said so himself 'no wonder you're not affected by the genjutsu, you're a shadow clone' now that Naruto's clones are faster than Amaterasu and all Itachi's attacks he can use them to attack Itachi without fear of Illusions and to bypass Susanoo, Naruto will send a chakra arm underground and pull Itachi out of susanoo then fling a rasenshuriken at him, killing him.

he cant close the distance because Gaara will be far away, in the sky in a ball of sand. Yata mirror wont make a difference as it is an external defense and Susanoo has no interior defense so he can pull him out of the Susanoo and crush him with sand. I said Gaara pulled Madara out of susanoo, my statement was 'pull him out of susanoo like he did Madara' then I mentioned crush him with sand. I dont know where you ppl are getting this whole water will beat sand, it was the Mizukage's OILY WATER that could seep through the sand.

Amaterasu does not stop burning. I don't know if you have seen but when Yamato makes mokuton out of his body it stays attached to him. He and hashirama would burn.
Also if I need to I will refer you to the manga page where the shinobi alliance says, "Only Itachi Uchiha can control people at this distance" and they were talking about from where their sentries were, which was a far way away.
Itachi has genjutsu that isn't short range. Hashirama loses, as well as Gaara, and Sasuke.
Why do you think the real Naruto wouldn't get caught in a genjutsu?

Bolded ones would get crushed by Itachi, infact one of them got crushed by Itachi (Nagato) and some of them (Danzo, Hiruzen) got crushed by people who got crushed by Itachi (Orochimaru, Sasuke).
word of mouth isnt fact as the same Ao said Sasuke killed Zabuza and people mistake that statement, Itachi can control people out of the range of sensors doesnt mean he can cast illusions out of the range of sensors, a sensor's range is very large, Naruto in sage mode sensed Kakashi's chakra from the turtle island. You think Itachi can take control of Kakashi from the turtle Island? I believe what was implied was Itachi can cast genjutsu to control and still maintain that control over a very long distance as seen when he did it on the girl he used to distract Jiraiya in part 1. The real Naruto will be far away while his clones wont have to worry and will be doing the attacking for him. Yamato attacked Kakuzu with wood when Naruto's first Rasenshuriken failed and then disconnected the wood, also Danzo formed a tree to block Sasuke's Susanoo arrow and disconnected the wood as well, Hashirama is better with wood so he can definitely do this as well.

it depends. do they know about his abilities? does it take place near a water source or in the desert? is itachi sick? is he edo? too many factors to say "he can lose to these and beat those"

Tobi as sharingan jutsus have no effect on him
Minato would be an even match.
Shisui has never been seen in battle but based on the data given might be able to hold his own against itachi.
