We know that White Zetsu was the first creation of Madara using Hashirama's DNA,according to Narutopedia.Well there is a possibility that White Zetsu was something more than just Hashirama's DNA,and this is why:
First of all,through the series White Zetsu had always a sense of humour,even in the serious situations,annoying Black Zetsu.Hashirama also laughed a lot and acted silly,so basically WZ acted like Hashirama most of the time.
Because WZ had Hashirama's DNA,maybe with time he obtained Hashirama's will,too,although he was a weakened android of him.He was created intelligent.
Secondly,White Zetsu seemed to take an interest in Sasuke some time before his death,and here is another link between him and Hashirama.
Look at this scan:
Hashirama said he'll free Sasuke from his hatred,so he was interested in him,like WZ.
Now look at this:
If we compare White Zetsu's words with Hashirama's words,it may look like WZ may want Sasuke to walk a different path than the one Obito wants,planning to betray Obito and try afterwards to change Sasuke's mind.
This hypothesis is based on the idea that WZ is acting on Hashirama's will.They both wanted to save Sasuke.He made
sure that he'll look after him with BZ leaving him alone.

Black Zetsu was aware of WZ' actions,so maybe he alerted Obito about it.To make sure things don't go wrong,Obito told Sasuke to kill WZ after the eye transplant is over.
These are WZ' clones and they speak about their original getting killed:
There might be a reason for them to be shocked:These clones were made by Obito with the bijuu power,and the original White Zetsu gave them Hashirama's DNA through ground.Because of the original getting killed,the clones realised that the will of Hashirama will vanish,and they'll be easily manipulated without their consciousness.
The White Zetsu you saw giving Madara the rinnegan was a clone of the original being manipulated.With the original
gone,all white zetsus are about to become brainless,also the ones BZ speaks about in the Infinite Tsukuyomi.It makes
sense for Kaguya to have zombie slaves to control them at her will.
The reason why WZ listened to Obito was because he still was Madara's creation and also because of his weakened status.He awaited for the opportunity.
So yea,there is a possibility that White Zetsu had good intentions,acting on Hashirama's will.
