Whiskers may be related to the Ridukou's bloodline and not Kurama

Naruto got his whiskers from Kurama, right? That is quite the common belief around here, however, I think otherwise, and here is why:

We saw, that Naruto had these whiskers right after his birth, also before having Kurama sealed inside him.

Also Kushina didn't have any whiskers, neither did Uzumaki Mito:

So this kinda questions this statement a lot. Now we do, however, have 2 other persons with whiskers, namely Ginkaku and Kinkaku:

They also have some of Kurama's chakra, however, they were also said to be related to the Ridukou.

Ridukou himself also seemed to have these whiskers, though it may be wrinkles:

Now what is more interesting, is that Obito didn't get these whiskers from absorbing the Juubi either, which also contained part of Kurama's chakra corresponding to both Ginkaku and Kinkaku's amount of it.

This leads me to believe, that the whiskers are actually sign of mutation in the DNA, that is extremely rare, but it brings a relation to the Ridukou Sennin, which may prove to be very important.

We saw such a small part of Ridukou Sennin's face, when all the tailed beasts was thinking of Naruto as being his ... (whatever that may suggest). This also speaks to favor this theory, and I believe it may be the key to some things, that will happen soon in the story.

EDIT:
If I were to add some more evidence for this thread, it would be the following:

Kurama doesn't have whiskers either:

What happens to Naruto, when he takes on his Kuybi cloak:

Even the whiskers change, as Naruto starts to resemble the Ridukou even more.

Its a bit of a stretch to think the whiskers are related to the SO6P. He didn't have whiskers (as far as we know so far), what you see are wrinkles. A more likely theory on Naruto's whiskers are that he inherited them from Kushina (who still had Kurama in her at Naruto's birth). Since Naruto, as an unborn baby, was being nurtured from within Kushina, you could make the argument he was being nurtured by Kurama's chakra, thus, whiskers at birth. You could make a similar argument that the Gin Kin brothers were nurtured by Kurama's chakra when they were eaten, thus, whiskers.

Now, since we don't know what the Gin Kin brothers looked like before they were eaten (if they had whiskers or not), it's hard to back that argument up. On the flip side though, it's hard to argue against it as well.

Well it can be explained. If you have black hair, that doesn't mean any of your parents had to have black hair either. But if one of their grand grand parents had, it is still possible, though the possibility is weak. This is also why Naruto is the destined child. Something in the DNA, that a person in born with very rare. The Ridukou foresaw it.

Its a bit of a stretch to think the whiskers are related to the SO6P. He didn't have whiskers (as far as we know so far), what you see are wrinkles. Well how can you see the difference on wrinkles and whiskers on a very old man? I also said, it could be wrinkles in my thread, but the problem is, that it's difficult to determine. It would be interesting if it was whiskers, though.¨

It's a valid point, that they came from being nurtured on both behalfs, however, why would Kishi go so far to make something so irrelevant? Doesn't seem like him, IMO.

maybe only a man can get those whiskers and not womens.
I thought of this too, but then I thought of Obito, who hasn't got whiskers despite having Kuramas chakra. Minato also doesn't have whiskers, he also has Kurama's chakra.

It could be a recessive gene or if you want a supernatural explanation then reincarnation of the SO6P wouldn't contradict the canon. I mean, everyone (wrongly) thought that Nagato was the reincarnated sage, so there is precedent in the story for it. Also the Bijuu and Jubii act like they recognize the sage when they connect with naruto. I think Obito is a false messiah and you'll see naruto fulfilling a prophecy soon.

I agree with you. Ive thought this for some time.

Its also why we've never seen the sages face.

Hard to tell from the single image we have seen. But most likely Kishi being a troll to make it seem so difficult to determine.

I agree with you. Ive thought this for some time.

Yeah exactly. There gotta be a reason for why Kishi hasn't shown us the Ridukou's face!

Nice theory , and maybe you are right :)
Thanks, well lets see, it could be nice being right for once LOL.

I think Ginkaku and Kinkaku had the whiskers before they went inside the 9 tails......
That would indeed benefit my thread, however, no such evidence exists.

Of course the whiskers aren't Kurama's doing. Naruto had them when he was born, but he wasn't Jinchuriki yet, so this variant doesn't counts. Also, this on the Sage's face is wrinkles, not whiskers. He's at very old age at the time.

But your theory overall may be right. It sounds very possible, because as Ay said in the panel you posted, it seems like Kin and Gin (who are the other two characters with whiskers in the manga) are related to Rikudou, and Naruto's whiskers are very possible to be related to the Sage, too.
