It's actuall not possible for Itachi to get EMS. If you look closely at the uchiha who've unlocked it madara and Sasuke they both have something in common. Indras charka, I strongly think that only Indras host have the ability to unlock it solely because of Indras charka that clings to them. Then if your Indra adding the Ashura Senju DNA will allow you to get rinnegan. This is why obito was never able to awaken his own rinnegan even though he was exposed to hashirama cells. You need to be Indra in order to unlock EMS then Rinnegan
